Anyone have any suggestions for migrane headaches that don't involve preparing anything? I know feverfew works, but I don't have any warning when one comes on and when it does, I don't feel like moving. I'm looking for simple solutions to ease the pain that my husband can do when I get incapacitated...

Well, I find the easiest way is to just take panadol. It dosnt help with the sick feeling at all, but it sure does get rid of the headache. 3nodding Apart from saying that, I am afraid I can be of no help.

hmm... well, I looked into some of my books and most of the stuff is preventative but they do suggest that caffeine taken w/ over the counter medications can increase pain relief and they say music can have a calming effect. Maybe if you drink a coke or coffee with your painkiller of choice and your husband puts on something really soothing to listen to that would help. If your husband learned a little about acupressure he might be able to help you too. I don't know much about migranes. The only headaches I get are from my eyes hurting.

I dunno about the music bit- even the sound of feet on the carpet makes my head want to burst. The acupressure idea's one, though- I found the other morning that if I lay with a towel under my neck, it un-pinches the nerve that's pinched in there and eases the pain a little...

Migraines, ugh ! They are the worst ! I feel for you. I used to get them after my first son was born. I found I needed to be in a dark room as any light made me nauseous, with a really cold cloth on the back of my neck, alternated with neck massage. Pepermint tea sometimes helped me too. Good luck .

You don't have to prepare feverfew, you can just put a pinch of it between your front lip and teeth. It will absorb into the body that way, plus it works faster this way too.
