I have a theory about Hayate. To be more precice why he didn't cough while spying on Kabuto & Baki & also why he didn't let go of the sword & dodge Baki's attack. My theory is... *ahem* that...: He was spaced out on cough medicine xd Um... Yeah... Sorry that wasn't the most exciting theory you ever heard, but it makes sence anyways... *coughs*
What's supporting my theory?
1. Hayate coughed alot more durring the chunin exam, but just cough once in that episode (to clear his throat before charging into battle)
&
2. His reation time seemed alittle slow at the end... (which could happen if the medicine kicked in & started making him drowsey)
So yeah... Hayate heard that he was being sent on a stealth mission so he took something for his cough, but he didn't check to make sure it was "non-droswey" & that's why he died.
