[Oh the Shock, oh the horror!]
Criticism, Criticism, Criticism! You all want it, but how many of you are giving it? I was browsing around the portfolios today and thought to myself, "Wow, these people are the only ones actually critiquing."
This is a very difficult area to touch, because part of the trouble may be that some simply do not know how to give feedback, as has been suggested to me.

A good feedback should contain the following:
a) What you liked: It is considered modest to put this part of your critic first.
b) What you disliked.
c) The positives of their writing.
d) Any errors you can spot.
e) Any improvements you can suggest.

It is easy to say, "I really liked your piece" But what we want is something that will help the writer improve.

When you receive feedback:

It is common courtesy to return the favor and critic one of their pieces or their portfolio as a whole. Please keep this in mind.

For now on, at the end of each month we will be holding a little contest to find the best critic of that month. This could result in a prize if our funding goes up, (Which diminished in the last few writing contests XD )

Hi Sporka, I'm new to the guild but I was wondering is it possible to be too lenient (suspect it might be spelled wrong) on some writers? I don't want to squash anyone's enthusiasm and besides, I try to be reasonably fair. I don't much believe in p***y-footing but I don't want to rip anyone's creative heart out either, some writing is highly personal I just want to help them be better writers...
