Ever since my brother came home from Iraq (home meaning camp Pendleton), he's been an alcoholic and chain smoker. I haven't spoken to him sober once, and when he was home on post-deployment leave, he got drunk almost every night. I think he really needs help, but he won't admit it. Its nothing to be ashamed of, after things he's witnessed and done (he's spoken with me about what it was like, and things he saw...I would need help after that). I can't get him to see a professional, and he only talks to me and his friend Nathan about anything, unless he's drunk, and I've got to save Mom the horror of hearing his stories.
I don't know what to do, and I'm so worried for him. Does anyone have advice for me?

*thinks* is there any way you could contact someone of a higher rank then him and talk to them? You could even try contacting the/a Chaplain at Camp Pendleton and express your concerns and he/she could help your brother....it's worth a shot....hope everything works out!

Talk to his commanders. They can order him to get help. It may be the only way
