I guess I don't really apply since I'm 21.
I think it's a comfort level with which gender you would date. I honestly can't imagine having a more-than-platonic relationship with a man and still being myself/happy. There are a few men I can find attractive, but I would not be able to be comfortable or happy with a man.

How do you know if your straight either? For every question one should look at the opposite question in turn. How does one know they are attracted to a single gender? Simply, you are. Does a girl make your head turn or does a guy? While the girls are squealing over the hottest male actor are you busy drooling over the female actors?
You do not need to date or anything to know which gender you like the most. You just know. So before asking questions think of the alternative and ask yourself is straight people even question their desires.

never said i was straight o.O
i havent dated enough to find myself so its still questionable.
But with the turning heads. I do check guys out cause im jealous of the way they look. Or cause of the girl they have their arm around.
but its just a question. no one can wake up at the age of 13 and be like "wow... im a lesbian"

I was not saying your were straight. I was saying that they don't question when they are straight because they always know. It has nothing to do with age either. When I was 9 I was already chasing girls around the playground. It is something you know and it isn't something you just suddenly become aware of. Only you can answer the questions regarding your sexuality.

I'm not talking about the chasing you are thinking about. Do you know of the term "giving Chase"? I'm not talking about simple tag here, I'm talking about chasing the girl around, tackling her to the ground and starting longingly into her eyes.
Am I the only one who understands chasing tail?

Some of the girls here are young and they are discovering themselves. Some may not be in the long run, but most come to discover they truly are in their own ways. One never questions why another is straight or about their methods or anything. It can be hard to understand.
For me, I found out that I just wasn't comfortable on all levels with a guy. I've never been on all levels with a girl, but I can see myself with a girl, but not with a guy. The idea of being with a guy doesn't make me happy at all.

Hm...I don't know if this helps but don't think about "Strait" "Bisexual" "Gay". Forget those titles and just go with the flow with how you feel towards each person or gender. I like to think of it just being with certain people, for example: You don't feel lust or anything for guys but this one guy makes you crazy whenever you see him or seeing girls breats don't make you..."happy?" lol but this one girl has the most perfects tits you have every seen ((I'm laughing and I don't know why! I sound so weird)). That's how I was before I learned those names, I just felt what I felt until those names came to my world. All the girls were going into the strait direction so I followed but I wasn't happy. You know what I mean?

Kat Well... this happens to me. sweatdrop But I hang with more boys most of the time, and I would often tell 'em if I think that a certain chick on a film or a tv show is hot. Or if we just happened to meet someone in person. When I'm with my female friends, I can't do such things. I feel awkward. Well, I came from a Catholic country. Most of the times, girls are either discrete or simply hypocritical. xp

The main point is not to rush things if you aren't sure. This decision takes time for most people and it is best not to rush it. You are probably programed one way or the other, but it isn't always immediately apparent, some people need to let it grow until it finally becomes "obvious". Of course, some people do know right away, but it isn't so for everyone.
Part of the hesitation is psychological, you really have to be comfortable with what ever the truth is before you can acccept it and go with it.
Part of it is physical in origin. When you are a young teenager, or even preteen, especially one who is just moving into puberty( 12 to 14 in most cases though 8 to 18 seems to be withing the normal brackets, for both genders), there are certain physical developements in the brain (pre frontal cortex developement, and sex center growth) that only happen when the sex hormones kick in, and until they start, you just don't get it. Often, you don't even know it is there to get. And when you do start to get it you can be confused. Not everyone, of course, but many people are.
It has been observed for a very long time, centuries in fact, that this is an age often marked by a desire to be close to members of your own gender, even to the point of developing crushes on them in some cases. What's thought to be happening, along with the physical growth, is you are finishing one stage of asking the question "Who am I?" which includes your concept of gender identity, and you are starting to ask "Who are you?" as the concept of a potential mate comes in to your thoughts.
It has been observed that young girls can get really attached to other girls at this time, even to the point of having crushes, or starting to sexually experiment with them, only to have them come along a year later as they develop more and have them go "BOYS!!! And the same thing is true for boys as well, of course.
So, it is good to question, but don't be upset if the answers aren't just there for you, you are your own person and you'll get "it" in time. Listen to what others have to say about this, but in the end, think your own thoughts and make your own decisions. Don't fret, it will work out, it has for all the rest of us who went before you.
So! Congratulations! You are growing up!!! biggrin
