From the ground, no man can see the pinnacle of these mountains. They are several millenia old, and reach into the clouds. On the exterior of these giants, you can see marks of destruction. It is rumored that the Gods once did battle on this land.

It was hardly a place the angel would have picked for a meeting, but here he was to answer the summon none-the-less. He wore a merry man's lopsided hat, and a faintly cheerful expression as he rubbed the tips of his fingers back and forth over his lower lip. The letter had said to be there at dawn, and here he was, but was there another sign of life at the foot of the mountains?

No.

Really, there wasn't a hint of life at the foot of them, the middle of them, and as far as the top of them went, he didn't much care. What he cared about was the exposure he was risking, coming out here to meet an anonymous face that had dropped him a letter a few short days before. Reading the contents many a time to memorize the finer details, he had burned it after; making sure that not even the smallest gather of ash had left any of the paper behind for clues.

The last thing he needed was to be under suspicion for anything, most especially a rendezvous with someone of...ill reputation.

He chuckled into his fist, and tossed his head to move the hair from his face. No, he would wait just one more hour, and should no one appear, then we would be on his way to earth. Heavens knew (and he chuckled inwardly at his own use of this expression) that it could be a trap as was.

Suddenly there came soft footsteps, the owner of them unseen to the eye but growing closer with each soft pat and pit of footfall against the smaller bits of gravel.

"Coming to meet me cloaked, then? Come, now. I've come without a mask. The least you could do was come the same for me." He quirked a brow, and still looking as amused as ever, leaned back against the sloped, rocky wall; his arms crossing over his chest, as his ankles similarly crossed at the end of him. "Unless you're afraid to show your face?"

There came nothing, not for a while, as whoever it was stopped mid track. But just as the angel was growing antsy, the sounds came again, and something small, but firm, suddenly hit his ankles, and he looked down, startled to find a...

...Fat rodent?

The little thing gazed up at him with wide eyes, frozen, waiting for him to make some sort of move that would undoubtedly frighten it away.

"...Go on, then. I've no food." He moved his foot, and off it took, back into the tall grass just feet before him. Leaving the blonde to himself once again, no less, and with a sigh, he admitted this aloud, rolling his eyes.

Sarcasm is Nature's natural...

Slow, steady, measured wing beats pressed a shallow sound through the thin mountain air. The girl that made them shivered slightly, a scowl on her face. How, Bahgera wondered, had she managed to get this assignment? She thought bitterly of the lower ranks that were sitting in the warm air of the lands. This is an honor, she'd been told. Yeah. Some honor! the Angel thought with a near silent snort. I get sent out into the middle of flippin' nowhere!"

She sighed and dropped lower, hoping that the little bit of height would make some difference in the temperature. It didn't. Next time there's a report of intruders in the Light Realm, I am saying n-o, no, Bahgera decided, giving her wings a heavy flap to dispel some of the tingling that threatened to numb her limbs.

As she continued to complain silently, she moved farther through the mountains, searching for any disturbances she could feel withing the creatures that called this inhospitable place their home. It had been hours since the last slight change in temperament, and the flight was getting extremely monotonous. The Angel was just about ready to call it quits and head back to base when a slight fear pressed against her mind. She focused on it, and found that it was a mouse, who'd run up against a very large creature, to it anyway. Curiosity set in as the creature allowed the mouse to run away. Not a predator, then, Bahgera thought. No meat eating creature would let such an easy meal escape.

Deciding it was worth investigating, she turned her course and headed for where she'd felt the mouse. It wasn't long before she saw it, or rather, felt it, in a patch of greenery that somehow managed to thrive. Next to the place was what appeared to be another Angel. Now, what would he be doing all the way out here? she asked herself, descending until her feet lightly touched the ground several yards away from the man.

Angelus watched as the woman made her descent, his tongue running along his upper lip, as his mind ran off to make reasons for why his presence there couldn't possibly be anything but... well, innocent. The letter was gone, there was no proof he'd been asked to meet with anyone.

He was... wandering, yes! That was it. He was wandering. Being the curious fellow he was, why not? The mountains just looked lovely at this time of day-. Hm.
Well, it was a terrible lie, but it would have to do. It wasn't like he recognized the one across from him, so he thought there was no way she'd know of him.

Of course... it did cross his mind that he could be wrong.

Mustering up a most pleasant smile, he bowed his head in greeting. "Good morning. It's to be a most beautiful morning, don't you think?" He ignored the faintly bitter taste left in his mouth from these words, and took a step forward. "Though it's got some chill to it."
