Much like in the real world we have now bought property. Yet as of now there is nothing on it but the tree's that it came with. Time to build house all! Kay umm I never found out if all you fools decided on a name for the place but that is #1! #2 would be putting out mission statement on the front page in the description. #3 is putting basics on the front page like an intro thread, rule thread, ect. #4 is customizing the only real subthread we have for whatever it is worth with it's own version of the above. Then there is appearance. Anyone who can make a banner for the place get on that, there can be something bigger for our description just to make it nice and pretty. Finally we can then work on advertisements. The kinds of things we stick in our siggys so yeah lets make a good time there.
Help me out and tell me what I need to know. If I can get it I can probably see if my girlfriend can make the art for us, but I need an idea to feed her first.
Other than that there isn't much to say. LETS BEGIN!

Ah.....
Good work, odio. Hmmm, as far as the name goes, you are correct. We havent decided on a name. We all disappeared when it came time for the planning. #1 will probably be the hardest task to accomplish. I believe once that is accomplished, other tasks will fall into place.
So,... any ideas on what to call our organization? And while we're at it, what is our mission?

Heh, Ive just thought of something clever. I was just reading bleach-one of my favorite manga. While I was reading, I thought of my favorite character, Sado(aka Chad. He's half Japanese-half Mexican.) His name gave me a perfect acronym:
S tanding
A gainst
D iscrimative
O ppression
The S.A.D.O guild! We could use him as a mascot. Talk about bleach and racial unity. I think this would be a great tatic for attracting both bleach fans and intellectualls. Once agreed, then we could write up an elborate, straightforward, and delicate mission statement. So, what say ye?

Okay just some minor things here. Now I do love Sado quite a bit...you do realize that in a nice turn of events a SADO- can refer to one involved in sadomasochism or S & M? So it kinda feels weird to look at that...

Good point, but maybe if we abbreviate the word, or spell it out in our banner, people wont mistake it. Besides, Chad is the man and I havent figured out a righteous acronymn for his english name yet. Anyway, I take it you agree with the motion to use him as a mascot and have the guild double as a Chad fan guild?

Well I am at odds with it all. I men he has a few things going for him, he is mixed...maybe not quite as much as myself but he certainly is. And he is a positive character of another race besides Japanese in Japanese animation. Very rare surprisingly. But first I would like to ask you one question. How popular was this guild before we tried to buy it?
You see it is less about the worth of us having a mascot but more of the worth of the character to actually pull in new associates. And I don't want this place to become more of an animation discussion guild than whatever the hell we are making right now. So if the place had a popular pull(which is low due to it being sold) I would allow it, cause that has a learning curve of getting base anime fans to intellectual status. But if it is vice versa the learning curve is trying to make intellectuals into anime fans. And as much as I like anime I am not one to make that my main goal.

Ok so here's another one. I've been thinking about it hard. We've been wanting a guild that spoke of intellectual subjects, and attracted intellectual people. However we need it to be stylish, funky, and cool. well, while hanging out at the club the other night, a group of my friends were on the dance floor breakdancing. Another group of my friends were outside discussing tattooes and piercings. I happen to know that both groups dig anime, hate politics, the trendy bandwagon, civil injustices, and etc. And the club we were at was very urban. Then it clicked: We need an urban guild that takes these two worlds and put them together. We could discuss everything! Well, any suggestions?

I feel bad about not stopping by here earlier. I'm really sorry...
I read through this entire thread. So here's what I have to say:
Now, I'm not trying to shoot down your original idea, but making the guild 1/2 about anime isn't what we started the guild for. But you're idea of making a multi-purpose guild is pretty perfect.
I think the main forum page should be for debate... of course it might be easier to break the guild forum down to subforums... but that was the problem with the Boondocks guild: no one looked at the subforums, and it would just mean more money to put towards the guild. So how about the main forum page be about debate, and the subforum we have can be about Entertainment, and anime, music, Tv, movies... all of those topics can fall into one place. Should we have a subforum about anything else?
About the name... what odio implacable said was true: I don't think SADO would work. But- I thought of an acronym for CHAD:
Combatting
Hate
And
Discrimination
Is that good?
Of course, I still like the idea of using AFRO, except standing for:
Americans
Fighting
Racism &
Oppression
And then again... I don't know why our acronym has to spell out something. The NAACP spells out nothing and it's still well known and important. Do we need to aim for catchy?
And, seeing as I've never watched Bleach in my life (though I do watch anime from time to time), it would seem weird for me to have him as a mascot. But you are the Captain, right?
Btw, like I said, a good friend of mine is really good when it comes to banners (Ryusuke, you remember Superficial Ecstasy... lol ) and so if your girlfriend can't make one for us, Odio, then she can.
And ALSO, I think we should obviously have on our large front page banner some pictures of prominent civil rights figures (not just african american ones). Then again, doing that would make the guild seem hackneyed...
So those are my thoughts for now.

Something about AFRO seems to be slowly pulling me towards a particular Boondocks Episode that featured a few like that. Hmm but in a good mind I am unsure of CHAD if we are not using him. I am unsure of AFRO because it makes a front that all there is to debate here is racial debate. Particularly racial debate around black people. Which oddly since our founding and our first membership appears to be a bit truthful, may change over time. I also hate acronyms.
Now what I like is a real name to give this thing. Something oddly poetic like most movements would grasp onto, after that we can let members mess around with the name.
Rapid Mentality was a nice little poem I wrote about self searching and outside research. The kind of thing I do to try to understand the universe. Though I myself like the name for the guild. We also have many others like Speed Of Thought, Shifting Minds, Foresight Hindsight, and Brainwashed? that last one is supposed to have a question mark for the sake of people thinking if their ideas are really their own. Anyway all in all a real name is better in my book, we can do a nice thing like, "A Debate Guild" as a real basic one or, "A Mental War zone" if we want to be more dramatic, hell we can even put,"An Intellectual Hangout" if we want emphasis on our subthreads.
Also I am unsure of the Civil Rights leaders cause some can differ. For instance if I were to graft Fidel Castro on the cover for his amazing work in following his goal as a revolutionary communist, and his way of turning the American aid he had gotten to win the war and changed it into a bad decision when America realized they couldn't stop him after he got power. And for surviving more than 300 assassination plots by my government. But he is Communist, he is Cuban, and he is considered an evil man by many. So even though I love him I would have issues in putting him up there even after ideals I had through him.
More like Che Guevara much like Fidel were revolutionary and I am unsure if people might grab the wrong idea that we are a revolutionary movement if we use an acronym with words like "Combating" or "Fighting" in it, though I must have the man there.
All in all I am drifting through ideas. Keep the discussion going and once we have a solid plan we can get to work.

Sry i didnt reply yesterday, someone stole my session on the computer. Today, Gaia is all deformed on my computer. Anyway, we are not going to make an anime themed guild, so relax. It will be a multi-purpose guild. It's main mission will not to discuss and debate racial issues, but to educate the ignorant. That's why I want to attract people to the guild. The way I see it, we're fighting the malignent spread of ignorance and stereotypical oppression and discrimination. And it cant be only about black people but every minority. So yeah......
but at least we got a mission...

AFRO works but why does it have to be Americans? I mean shouldn't it be open to other countries as well seeing as I don't think America is the only place that have these issues.
