Is that even possible? I wish it was. My arms move faster than I need them to and I have them completely under control, but my feet just won't do it for me. Of course I'm trying to learn metal. I think I'm just going to try that youtube thing that was in a different post where I use my floor tom as a second bass.

Do you have fluency with both of your feet?

Well yes, but it always ends up sounding like a lot of flams instead of a constant beat

Well then just keep practicing with it and you might succeed where I've failed and you might one day get used to it.

All I can tell you is to practice. Try just moving your feet, and don't do anything with your hands confused

Really depends on what you consider metal. Some people consider Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace metal, but I don't. All depends.

The only metal songs on my i-pod that don't involve double bass pedals are run to the hills by iron maiden, master of puppets by metallica and anthem by trivium. Their are probably lots more single bass songs by maiden and metallica but I don't have them.

There is one shadows fall song that has no double bass I think, It's called December. You could always do what I did, put weights on your legs while your playing, after you do that for a like a month take them off it will feel really weird at first but you will be faster and more even. At least thats how it worked for me. And also try playing different ways with your feet and find whats good for you. Also running and lifting weights with your legs help out a lot too. Hope this helped.

First of all, don't use weights. Weights only work against gravity, and you don't need more help pulling your legs upwards, it's pushing them down and learning to accept the rebound and coordinate that you need to work on (like dribbling 1 or 2 basket balls).
The ultimate rule for getting good with double bass is to treat them like your hands; simply do the same rudiments as you do with your hands with your feet, and be sure to practice them each evenly.
This is provided you know how to and have properly adjusted your double bass pedal to your specifications. The trick to this is that almost every adjustment is just speed vs power - if it makes it faster it will usually hit softer and vice versa. There's plenty about this online.
Don't forget that (like all physical conditioning), your fitness level and flexibility will help, so don't neglect it.
ps, the dw7000's blew for me.. as soon as I went to the 9000 double bass I realized how much the 7's sucked - but if you can't afford them that's okay, just practice practice practice.

Their are probably lots more single bass songs by maiden and metallica but I don't have them. You must use tabs when learning to play a song if you don't hear the double bass in Master of Puppets. Noob. Plus, trivium has double bass in every song. I hate trivium, but the drummer milks double bass. 32nd note singles a double bass player do not make.

Balmingiled91 Well yes, but it always ends up sounding like a lot of flams instead of a constant beat Well, one more note: USE A METRONOME and make sure you have even strokes. I know it sounds really basic, but it's amazing how many amateur and pro drummers ignore the metronome.

Brann Dailor, the drummer for Mastodon, donesn't rely on his double bass pedal for his metal. His hands are freakin fast enough to make up for any lack of double bass. Not saying his double bass skills aren't up to par, but his style is so unique that he rarely even uses double bass at all.
