It was a perfect day for a festival in Kyoko's opinion. Not too hot, with a nice breeze, and just enough clouds that the sun wasn't unbearable. She ran around people, glad she was so good in the 'sport' she and her friends had come up with known as 'people dodging'. Even the feeling of being weighed down that got gradually heavier didn't cause her mood or steps to falter. She and Crystal were going to one of the festivals. They had agreed to meet there, and Kyoko wanted to be sure she was on time. Anbu was in the care of her father, since it was one of his days off from both his jobs, so it was another girl's day out. Kyoko was dressed closer to her normal attire that day. Her hair (slightly longer than before, thanks to a lack of haircut) was in a semi-ponytail, her bangs held out of her eyes with black barrettes. She wore a dark red band T-shirt (something about a Blast...) with dark green cargo shorts and a pair of black sneakers with red laces. Her canvas bag was present on her arm again, with as little in it as when she first met Crystal outside the masquerade.

She slowed as she neared the site of the festival. The area it took up was lined with stalls and booths and tents, food vendors were scattered all about, and a stage was in the very center, along with other performers scattered wherever there was room. The smells and sounds coming from the place made Kyoko squeal in anticipation. Life was very, very good right now.

"Kyoko!" The young woman could spot her new friend easily in the crowd, and not just because of her hair. Crystal grinned broadly, relieved to see the jubilant and upbeat woman, walking towards her from the side. She had been out for a walk, and hadn't expected to see Kyoko for a while yet; she just happened to see her while crossing the street, and decided a few extra minutes together couldn't hurt...right?

She wore a light green gown that hemmed at her calves and matching sandals, a far cry from her normal demure outfits. Her thick hair, while still curled, was pulled back from her face with green clips that were disguised as flowers, leaving her face clear and unadorned. A silver chain was around her neck with entwined silver chains around her wrist, although the one around her neck had a ring upon it. She wore a wide grin and soft gaze, so very pleased to be here with Kyoko.

"How are you?" she greeted the woman with great cheer. "I'm so glad to see you again!"

"Crystal! I'm doing good, and it's good to see you again too!" Kyoko gave her friend a quick hug, her smile wide. "You look so pretty! How are you doing?" Her brown eyes caught sight of the ring at Crystal's neck, her mind bringing up the question of where it came from. Rings weren't something many people wore on a chain...She'd ask later, though. Right now was not the time. And Kyoko had to switch her mental gears to keeping her feet from tapping in time to the music coming from the festival. She needed to limit her dancing this time, thanks to her pregnancy. But she didn't mind so much.

Anbu adjusted the hat on its head, trying to keep a slight shadow on its face. It wore a dark blue tank top and black shorts Kyoko had bought for it, along with a pair of white sneakers that Gekkou had gotten it. Anbu shifted in the crowd, feeling strange in clothing looser than what it was used to. But it needed to 'blend in' and be 'ninja-like' if it was going to make sure its mother didn't do anything to overexert herself. It sighed, keeping its indigo gaze on Kyoko and Crystal as the crowd around them shifted.

The flower girl laughed delightedly, giving Kyoko an adoring hug in return. "Do you like the color? It about gave my poor mother a heart attack." She giggled from behind her hand, unable to contain her mirth. Between a certain male in her life and Kyoko, the palette of colors in her mind was expanding. Working in a flower shop, she was very inclined to colors and their contrasts, compliments and mixtures, but she'd never applied it to herself. Most of her dark and shade-hued clothes had been put aside for the time being, in favor of lighter and more delicate shades.

Crystal motioned grandly towards the festival, looping her arm with Kyoko's free one. She wasn't usually so playful, but she was in a great mood, sorely needing a girls day out. The nights weren't hers alone anymore. Take a deep breath, still giddy as a school girl, she smiled warmly, "How have you been? And how's the apartment working out for you?"

Kyoko nodded, giggling herself. "I love it! It looks wonderful on you!" Of course, Kyoko was ignoring her bias for the color green. A lover of green she may have been, but the color really did look good on Crystal! Kyoko herself did have clothes in colors more than green and black, those were just her favorite colors.

She happily completed the arm loop, heading into the festival with Crystal. "I've been wonderful! No more morning sickness, and everything's going well! Tou-chan only works one job now, since he was snagged by one of the better restaurants, and the apartment looks better now with the flowers and other things I've been putting in it." Kyoko was a little more energetic than normal, due to the festival. She ADORED the festivals.

Anbu followed Kyoko and Crystal, avoiding running into people. It felt a little 'naked' without it's ball...but it was getting used to the looser clothing. It sighed at Kyoko's bubblyness. At this rate, it had a lot of work to do...

Crystal blinked with a start, looking over to Kyoko with wide eyes. "Morning sickness?" she repeated curiously, before a couple of pieces suddenly snapped together in her head. "Oh! Kyuubi, and...oh goodness, I didn't realize! Congratulations! When are you due?" She was practically giddy from the festival and the news of a baby was not helping her stay calm. The young woman squealed and leapt on the balls of her feet, a grin spreading from ear to ear. "How exciting!"

She could feel the music as they were approaching the first throngs of people, her feet itching to tap the pattern that she could pick out. Crystal hadn't danced since that first evening with a certain vampire, and now it seemed like it had been far too long since she had given in to the music. Her hand unconsciously creeped to her throat, where it loosely cupped the ring, her thumb stroking the engraving upon the side. She would have to pick up the spices that she had forgotten last time, as well as a little something extra.

Kyoko had thought she'd told Crystal...seemed she'd spaced and forgotten to though...Kyoko tried to stay calm herself, though the attempts weren't working all too well. "It's okay! I thought I'd told you. Seems I was being absent-minded again! I'm due near the end of January." Crystal's giddiness soon caused Kyoko's own to bubble over and the green-haired girl couldn't help but giggle in happiness.

As they neared the festival proper, Kyoko found herself trying not to dance, under orders to not strain herself. But she would dance at some point during the festival...Crystal hadn't seen her dance, and she refused to hide her dance from a friend. Her smile was wide as she took a deep breath. The smells were so yummy! And a couple of them reminded her of Anbu. She'd have to pick up a sweet thing and a toy or game of some sort for it later.

Anbu was glad it was good at hide and seek...else it would have started to lose the girls it was following. A few people looked at it weird, but it never made eye contact with anyone...Just kept an eye on Kyoko and Crystal. They seemed fine...though the amount of giddiness they were giving on was a little annoying.

The flower girl couldn't recall if Kyoko had told her, but the one day they'd met had been a bit trying, with Qadir and all. "It's entirely likely that you did. Forgive me, I'm a little scattered sometimes." She dropped her hand from her neck, giving her friend's arm a fond squeeze. "I wont forget this time," she reassured Kyoko, grinning delightedly. Oh certainly not, she'd make sure to mark January on her calender when she got home! Babies were always exciting!

As if reading Kyoko's mind, she commented, "Goodness, I can almost taste the air." The amount of smells wafting through the air was enticing, and she was sure that some of the things causing the smells would find a way home with her. Crystal enjoyed to eat a good meal, but she also enjoyed trying to replicate foods she found agreeable. Between the music, the young woman at her side and the smells in the air, Crystal felt young, truly carefree for the first time in her recent recollection. "What a delightful day for the faire," she mused out loud, a lazy and pleased smile touching her lips.

Kyoko shook her head. "No worries! I'm a bit scattered myself, most of the time." But her friend's concern that she might have forgotten was nice. Most of Kyoko's friends were just as forgetful as her, but refused to admit so. "I'll make sure that Tou-chan knows you're one of the people to be contacted when the kid is born."

Kyoko nodded in agreement, keeping the want to drool at bay. "Mmmm...so many smells I haven't smelled yet...New vendors!" Kyoko herself always enjoyed new vendors at the faires. And she always remembered to bring home some particularly yummy dish for her father to try and make himself. By this point, Kyoko's father had quite the arsenal under his culinary belt due to that tactic. "It is! I couldn't think of a better day to be at faire!"

"New vendors!" Crystal echoed, pleased. While it was great that the faire was something constant and familiar, she very much enjoyed perusing new wares and goods. She'd found some of the most spectacular items this way, and she hoped both that she wouldn't find anything this year to save pieces and that she would find something she simply couldn't live without. In the back of her mind, she kept an eye out for goods for three other people, one of which was on her arm.

Turning to look at Kyoko, brushing her hair behind her shoulder, she asked, "Are you hungry? We can eat first. I'm not very hungry, but the smell is going to change that." She giggled a little, stormy eyes roving over the booths as they finally came close enough to do so.

"What's your favorite part of the faire, Kyoko?" she inquired conversationally, turning her attention once more to her friend. Each person had their reason, no doubt, but Crystal always loved to know why other people were drawn to the common place.

Kyoko nodded, realizing she hadn't eaten yet. "Yeah, that's a good idea." She let go of a giggle herself. "Else these smells will drive us buggers!" Her own golden eyes looked around, taking note of which non-food booths to visit later.

She looked back to Crystal again, then smiled. "I would have to say...The people. There's so many people, from all different places and classes...and they all have something new to share, something I haven't experienced yet." Kyoko lightly poked Crystal's forearm. "What about you, Crystal? What's your favorite part?"

Anbu quickly regretted not bringing any money. The smells were wonderful! It shook its head. It would have to survive until Kyoko was done. Anbu refused to let its mother know it was following her...The trickster sighed and pulled the cap down a bit more to further shadow its face.

Crystal paused in front of a churro booth, taking in the delightful scent of cinnamon and sugar with an appreciative sigh. "I could go the whole day without a meal here, so long as I could snack on such treats as these." She giggled a little more, covering her lips with her fingers. The woman had never been much of a snacker, but at a place like this with churros and popcorn, ice cream and candies, fruit kabobs and glorious other unknown things, it would be such a shame not to try them all!

"Hmm," she thought as she was poked, a grin surfacing on her face, "The memories. The old ones I have of this time are fond, and the new ones carry me through the rest of the year." She considered her words, before giving a nod as though she approved of her own sentiments. "Yes, the memories, the experiences, stay with me." Granted, her last visit hadn't been very good, but she took with it the memory of a warm embrace and a wonderful companion; she tried to see the bright side in all things, even if there wasn't much to go off of.

Thinking of those two instances reminded her of what she had to collect before she left. "Oh, don't let me forget to stop by the spice booth before we leave." Crystal smiled warmly, explaining, "I want to try a new dish, and I need specific powders for it. I can only find them here."

Kyoko took in a deep breath, obviously agreeing with Crystal's sentiments. "Mm-hmm. All of the food here smells so yummy...And I've never tried something at a festival I didn't like!" Except for the chocolate grasshoppers...but she had avoided those to begin with.

The green haired girl nodded, her smile turning softer. "Yeah...Memories are a wonderful thing when they're good." Kyoko herself avoided many of her younger memories, but the ones that she didn't were gems, and those of her current life were the most wonderful in her opinion. Life was best when lived with others.

Kyoko blinked and nodded. "I shall remind you if you forget!" The thought of spices that couldn't normally be found normally made Kyoko's mouth water. "Mmm...it sounds yummy so far, and I don't even know what it is!"

Anbu could not believe its mother. It certainly ended up with someone strange. But the entertainment value never faded. It smiled wrly and moved a little closer, since the crowd was getting thicker.

The young woman laughed, approaching a booth and pointing out some delicious looking pastries to the person manning it. "It's a foreign spicy recipe," Crystal explained as she plunked down a few pieces, accepting the pastries with a smile to the vendor, "and I just can't find the proper spices anywhere. I was here a few days ago and saw them, but-" a brief pause, "-I was easily distracted." She grinned and held out an apple tart of some kind, hoping Kyoko liked them. The flower girl was rather fond of the slightly cooked apple and cinnamon pastry, especially when they drizzled it in the brown sugar like these were; it was heavenly, and she made a mental note to try it herself once she got home.

After taking a nibble of her own treat and giving a satisfactory sigh of delight, she gave a little skip and sheepish giggle. "I'm so excited, I could just run circles. I apologize in advance for being unreasonable." Crystal happily went about eating her treat in small bites, enough that she could still make small nosies of admiration and joy as the two walked.

"Oooo...I like spicy stuff!" Kyoko rubbed her belly, imagining the possiblities. "Peppers or another type of spice?" Kyoko chuckled. "Ah...distractions abound here! So it's no worry." Kyoko blinked at the tart, then took it with an enthusiastic 'thank you'. "Mmmm...such a yummy smell." And with a bite of it, she practically melted.

"And the taste exceeds the smell!" She giggled at Crystal. "No worries...I think I'm about the same." She nibbled on her own tart as they walked, eyes darting about to look around.

Anbu dug through its pockets, looking for any money. And failing. It cursed itself for having forgotten money. It was not going to be happy at all. Sighing, it followed the two women again, trying to ignore its rumbling stomach.
