Erasmus Blake chuckled as one of the first years walked in, their legs locked together.

"Pathetic," he whispered to the Slytherin next to him. "Bloody first years don't know what hit them."


He sat down on the long bench, picking up his fork and digging into his meal. Erasmus noticed his younger sister, Juliet sitting quietly at the Hufflepuff table. Erasmus lifted his wand and whispered a hex. In a matter of seconds, a Gryffindor 2nd year was put in a full body bind, sitting frozen at their table.

"Stupid Gryffindors!"

Kirra, about to stand a stalk down the table sat back. Looking down the teachers table she decided on a more...modern version of punishment. She aimed her thin black wand at the two boys and aimed a full body bind jinx. They became stiff as boards, and she decided to leave them their for a few moments before letting them go.

Illuminatus concentrated and undid the curse nonverbally. He looked at Erasmus and said, "So, what's your story? I've yet to meet anyone here... Could you give me the scoop on some people here?"

Illuminatus said more to himself than Erasmus, "I would have been a Ravenclaw were it not for the darkness in my heart." The shadows on his face lengthened, briefly revealing a infinite sadness numbed with the only thing that worked- hatred and evil. Then he flicked his wand covertly at Erasmus, mentally reciting an incantation. "Depulso!" Erasmus was promptly thrown from his seat while Illuminatus laughed and lied, "Smooth. You got owned by a Gryffindor. Keep on your toes, Erasmus." He added in a low voice that Erasmus couldn't hear, "And watch your comments about non-pure bloods."

Kirra, finaly free from the hospital wing swpt up the hall. Tightening her grip on her book she pulled Erasmus back in his seat and smaked them both in the head with her volume of 'Hogwarts A History.'

"No rough house at the table." Then she paused, tying to hide her smirk she whispered, "Do it in the great hall."

Illuminatus cursed Lillix quietly in Salacazharo, and bowed to Juliet, a curious gesture that put him on one knee with his forearm level with his chest, as if he were holding a sword. He quickly realized that bowing was not common in this world, and instead said, "I am Illuminatus. Erasmus has already told me about you." He added in an undertone, "And his description of you was not flattering." He smiled apologetically, in a way that showed Juliet that he did not agree with Erasmus. For a Slytherin, Illuminatus had an odd personality.

Illuminatus accessed his excellent memory, and repeated verbatim "'Thats my sister, Juliet. Bit of a shock when she landed Hufflepuff. Mum was ashamed and dad was furious.' He said this all in a rather scornful tone." Illuminatus looked distant for a moment, and then said, "Illuminatus in not my real name. It was at first a temporary pseudonym, but later it became my identity. I have not used my real name since the Fall." He sighed, shadows of pain and memory flickering across his face, but he mastered them and regained his handsome appearance. "Since this is your first year at Hogwarts, I'll have your back. I'll give you advice or help in your classes if you'd like- Slytherin's reputation has soured, and I am eager to restore it." Illuminatus instantly regretted using the combat expression, 'I'll have your back,' and fervently hoped that Juliet had not read too far into it. He preferred to leave his past where it belonged. The only problem was that it kept catching up to him.
