so my hubby and I found a treadmill on Saturday at a garage sale for $40!!
It's awesome! it's the one listed here
Saturday I walked 1/4 mile @ 1.5 mph (which lasted about 10 minutes) and yesterday 1/2 mile @ 2mph. Sounds uber slow, but it was enough to feel it in my legs!!!
I'm not anticipating losing GOBS of weigh super fast, but if I can start feeling my clothes fit better I'll be happy!
walking/running is what I used to do to stay in shape when I was younger. I really enjoy it (especially running). I've been bugging Kevin for years to get me a treadmill and now that we have it i'm so happy!!!
I even get on it for 5 minutes here and there just to play.
We have to rearrange the back puter room tho to put the treadmill in...right now it's in the living room and in the way of everything. The nice thing about it being there is that I see it when I'm sitting crocheting or watching TV and it motivates me to get up...the bad thing is that we have to crawl over it for everything lol
so, I have no idea what my starting weight is but I think next weekend we're gonna go invest in a bathroom scale so I can keep progress.
WISH ME LUCK!!!!!

Woo! Sounds great!! Keep it up, and good luck! heart
My mom treadmills about 20 mins a day except weekends, I think. And it's a great way for her to get books read because of the little book stand she can put up there!

I wanna get a book holder for my treadmill. sounds better than watching TV while I'm walking. plus I don't have to worry about fwd thru commercials

so i took a break the last 2 days but I weighed myself on my friend's scale...
250 lbs!!!!!
so I looked up the best walking to lose weight things and they say that to get results you're best to walk 12 miles a week
12 miles a week!!!!!
so that means I need to do at least an hour of walking a day...which is seriously gonna cut down on my online time.
They have a time line to get you up to that tho so I'm gonna work at it slowly and surely.
I did 20 minutes today (.66miles) and my calves were killing me at the end of it. but I felt so good!

Wow, 20 mins a day sounds like all I could handle! An hour a day?!?! eek gonk
Did you find a book holder? I'm SO behind on my reading ever since Amber was born, and I don't know how I'm even going to read Harry Potter 7 once my parents are through with it!

nope...no book holder yet ... altho truthfully i haven't been actively looking much.
I had to put walking on hold cuz I got 2 teeth pulled wednesday and they say no exercise for at least a week (cuz of the increased bleeding it could cause)
so I'm back to lazy on the couch crocheting for now lol

I really should start a thread in here. I haven't visited this forum in an long time.
Jaz, to me an hour a day is alot to start out on. I couldn't do it if I tried. Gary and I have been walking when he comes to see me and we went to a park the one day. It took everything I had to just walk back up the hill. My back and legs were killing me and it was only about 25 minutes or so. I've gotta start doing something here and soon or my doctor is going to want surgery done. I DON'T WANT THAT!!!

Eeek Rue! I'd want to avoid surgery too. Even getting in regular walking if once or twice a week is good, if you can't commit to it every day.
Yes, feel free to make a thread in here!! It helps get your mind focused on it.
I haven't visited the subforums in forever either, so I'm surprised there are new posts as of yesterday because it'd been months since I'd checked!
