Day2: Depression and Metric Time |

Depression: It slowly dawns on me that my dream of obtaining a Nitemare Scarf for my avatar will likely never come to fruition. As of now I can only think of 3 ways to obtain this beautiful item. 1.) Buy it on e-bay. (And risk getting kicked out...not worth it) 2.) Buy monthly gift items en-mass, and sell years later when the "market stocks" rise in value. (Slow and unlikely) 3.) Some wonderful and caring soul could simply DONATE one to me, or offer me a really good deal. (Like…only a couple hundred thou, instead of a couple million...). Bless this persons eternal loving soul, should they choose to do it. Were this to occur they would gain an eternal spot in the pantheon of the secret society I am creating! (yes, we are going to have a pantheon of our “saints”). They would receive absolutely FREE ninja services for ever! They would ALWAYS have a friend. Alas...I fear this person may not exist (very unlikely, and yet, probably the ONLY way I will ever get one…)
1+2+3=Depression...
Now then...on to topic 2;
Metric Time- Rant One: The US can be really dumb sometimes. Why in the BLODDY FREEKING HELL do we NOT use the metric system??!! Our MILITARY uses it (except for measurements on clothing...but I wont get in to that personal gripe right now…) so if the largest single portions of our budget GO to Military spending, why don’t we start like a 10 year plan to switch from our insanity??? I for one am going to learn to effectively use BOTH systems and be able to instantly convert with some good degree of accuracy both ways. I mean who the hell really knows how many fathoms are in a nautical freaking mile anymore??? bloody politicians...
Rant Two: OK...so the WHOLE WORLD uses the better system of measurements (except the US, Myanmar and Liberia...wiki it...I’m right) known as the METRIC system. It has 2 beauties.
1.)All the measurements are divisible by 10 so if you wanna measure both the volume and the Dimensions of the edges of the object (without being dumb and saying cubic inches) you don’t have to convert from Length measurements to liquid measurements, you just know 1 cubic centimeter = 1 milliliter. THAT SIMPLE. Here’s an example…
Coffee mug from my kitchen. The interior is a Perfect cylinder so it works to prove my point. My measuring cup tells me the interior is exactly 2 cups in volume. Now I look it up online and I am told that 2 cups equals 28.87 cubic inches. (Both English values). That’s a TOTALY awkward number...1cup equals 14.435 cubic inches... I don’t know about you but I prefer 1 deciliter equals 100 cubic centimeters. WAY easier.
2.) EVERYTHING we can measure quantitatively can be documented by the metric system! There’s a reason we have adopted metric units as the "SI" or “Système International d'Unités” (International system of units in the OLD universal language...silly French*...).
OH WAIT!!! I WAS WRONG! We CAN'T document everything in Metric UNITS! What about TIME!!?? The thing so many bloody people are so BLOODY obsessed about!! Here is what I propose. We, as a World, stop using a time system based on 12's 60's 10's and 24's and JUST USE 10'S!! What an idea??!!! It would make SOO MANY THINGS, SOOO much easier to do! Physics for example...
The ball rolled 2 meters at 3 meter/Min. how many seconds did it take the ball to roll 2 meters?
US solution: 2/3=.6666 1min ×.666 =.666 min. hmm....that doesn't work well...ok 1min=60sec. 60×.666=40seconds. (a.k.a. STUPID conversion!!)
Metric solution: 2/3=.666 (metric) minutes × .666= 66.6 (metric) seconds. DONE!
…ok so now you're gonna argue that 40 is an easier number to use then 66.6, and I'm telling you there are 2 reasons you're WRONG.
1.) We get 40 because we have a CONVERSION for it. 66.6 is the EXACT same number as 40, it’s just metric!
2.) (corollary to 1) if we used metric time we would be use to what 1 metric second is and we would end up with solid, easy to use numbers like 25, or 100, 40 in our textbooks.
Now you're gonna argue that if we’re use to it, then why switch??
The same reason the US doesn't switch from English to metric. Even tho its easer in the long run, it’s a b***h to switch now, coz we are stuck in our ways and doomed to die...
Ok now you’re gonna argue, what’s the point of having a metric second if you're min. are based on 60 and hours STILL based on 24?
My response: ...it was an example...of COURSE the rest will be metric too...
Again you will argue (pointlessly I might add…) ..."um excuse me...we have time the way it is because of the length of time it takes for the earth to rotate once and the length of time for the earth to go around the around the sun. (Therefore a day and a year.)” ok I’ll give you that one...FOR the unit DAY and the unit YEAR!!!
I don’t care that sea navigators 400 years ago need a 60 division system to chart their way to A-mer-ri-ka. Das been DONE! In metric time the calendar will still have 365.25 days and AND leap years. A day will still be the length of ONE DAY! It’s just easier to have 100 hours in a day and a hundred seconds in an hour, because its base-10 and easy to convert (yes, by the way, I am proposing we change the outdated longitude and latitude systems as well...not gonna argue that right now…)
Now you’re gonna say that it’s weird...having ~14.4 (non-metric) min. in an hour...and weird having ~8.4 seconds= a metric min. Not only that! (you'll say) its not useful! One second is a useful measurement of time for what we tend to measure!
LEARN to EFFING use the new Deci-Seconds! and Deci min! THEY WORK FINE! There just metric! And if you’re in the US, and reading this, that probably scares you more coz of you’re 10th grad chemistry teacher who failed you coz you failed to adapt. Go die or Evolve Damnit! ok...i'm done ranting...
Long story short I'm gonna develop Metric Time, Post its usage and conversion HERE in one of my Journal Entries, and start getting as MANY people to use it as possible, because its better…. Give me a few days to get this done.... ~Keo ninja
2 Notes 1.) in the top of my journal, in the subject line, "Day#" day refers to a day i chose to write. Say I Don’t write for a few days? Next entry will STILL be Day3. 2.) Footnote: *The only things I can think of (right now) that the French did really well recently, are develop Parkour, and Continue to have French maids….sometimes food too…gotta love crepes…
