Current Mood: Distraught crying
Well today my brother and I hit the beach to do some surfing and the worst happened. He got bit by a shark. We were in the San Fransisco Bay area and paddled out to the waves and had a good hour of surfing then I saw him get knocked off his board and into the water. At first I thought he fell, but it was kinda strange how he had been knocked off, then I saw the shark's dorsal fin and the water parting. I freaked out at first thinking it was coming for me and starting to try and paddle back on my board, then looked back and saw my brother re-surface and the shark veered off for him so I swam back towards him, I had almost forgot that he was in the water too! I realized after a second that the shark was a Great White and a decent sized one, though not those huge man eaters like 15 feet and such, this one looked about 8 or 9 still, that's a pretty big shark!! I couldn't tell if my brother was panicked or thrilled, Aaron didn't try and move or anything! I didn't know what he was doing! We were pretty far out and I knew if he got bit, we might not make it back to shore before he bled to death- that is, if the shark would let him go after the bite. I saw it hit him and he went under and I screamed and paddled over to him- to hell with the shark, that's my brother you're chompin' on! He came back up a few seconds later and the water was stained red but the shark didn't seem to want to bite him again and started to leave, but managed to hit my board because I was so close to it and knocked me into the water too, but it didn't bite me it just swam off and didn't come back. I helped my brother on his board and climbed back on mine- I wanted to go- for one, he was hurt and I didn't know how bad yet, and second, that was a lot of blood and it could attract more unwanted visitors. He seemed alright on the way back, kinda in shock but not too bad, he was talking, and even laughed about how pale I looked. We got back to shore, thankfully someone had seen the attack besides me, just not as close another surfer had seen and swam back as soon as the shark was spotted and got help. My brother hadn't lost too much blood, but the bite radius on that sucker was huge! He had teeth marks and lacerations all down his hip and upper thigh area, it required a lot of stitches and is gonna leave a nasty scar! At least he's alive though.
