Pax awoke in a dark room. He shifted position. Sleeping on a rock bed was a lot less comfortable than most people would think. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a cigarette. His hand burst into flame, and he lit the cigarette. He wished he could just travel the shadows back to his tavern. To be with the people he cared for, but his master would decide when his term of service was up. Most likely, that day would not be today. The room he was in restricted his shadow powers, though he could still use some of his blackfire abilities. However, escape was all but futile. He knew that from experience. Suddenly the door flew open and light flooded the room. Pax winced in pain, and instinctivly sought out the dark corner of the room.
"The master wishes to see you. It seems he has another job for you," the demon smiled, showing off his set of jagged teeth. Pax didn't even try to argue or fight back. What was the point? He got up and followed the demon. He knew what it meant when he was told he had another job. Someone was going to die.

Illpixacanth left his master's domain. He looked at the name on the list. He frowned. When he headed to the tavern this time, it would not be a happy homecoming. The name on the list: Semienigmus. Apparently, his master wanted to make sure his loyalties were still intact. Pax lowered his head. Then melded into the shadows.
