Chapter 2 You're upset Nira, what's wrong? I heard Shana as I laid on my bed the next morning. It's too complicated. Shana, how come we can do this? How come we have this link? I'd been thinking about that question for a while. Me and Shana had an understanding about eachother like no one else had. We could both use telepathy and see people's aura's. We hear and see things no one else can. You and I both know we're psychic, came the reply. I closed my eyes and could see Shana sitting up an crossing her legs, getting into a comfortable position, ready for a long conversation. I don't understand why us though, I mean why are you and me like this? I sighed and sat up, then pulled out my Tarot Cards and started predicting the day's events. Don't question something without an answer Nira, just accept your fate. That's Shana for you, acceptable about everything. That's why I'm the dark vershion of her. I rolled over onto my side and curled up under my quilt. "Thank god for Saturdays", I thought as I drifted back into dreamland. "I need this recharge..." "Nira! Nira, where are you!" I was in a fog, somewhere by the cliff. I could feel blood running down my leg and was sure that if I brushed my hand across it the crimsin, sticky substance would cover it. "Nira! Please, where are you?" It took me a moment to registure that I was hanging off the edge of the cliff, holding onto the edge for dear life. "Dan? Is that you?" I called it out, but the voice didn't sound like my own. "I'm here..at the edge of the cliff." I saw him running to meet me and couldn't help but smile. He was wearing a baggy black shirt and beat up jeans. His aura was the color of the sky right after dusk. "Nira!" He easily pulled me up from the cliff, and a worried look washed over his face when he saw the huge gash in my leg. "What are you doing here? You're not suppost to be here till dark!" I heard the tear of fabric as he ripped the shirt and wrapped the strips around my leg. "You can't spend so much time here, otherwise you won't get out..you might not learn the truth. Nira, promise me you'll wake up." "What do you mean not get out? All I did was take a nap, and I ended up here. What's going on Dan?" I found myself cradeled in his arms, him rocking me gently. "Please Nira..you need to get out of here and wake up, otherwise the truth shall remain locked in and neither of us will be free." I looked up at him in total and complete confushion. "Please.." Suddenly his lips met mine, for one brief moment. He was kissing me, and I kisses back. He pulled away and I could see the shock in his eyes. "Just go, now Nira! Get out before there's no turning back!" I woke up then, my lips still warm from his touch. I looked down at my leg and saw the black strip around it. I didn't understand any of it, all I knew was that something was going to happen, and someone was going to suffer. I got out of bed and checked out the clock on my computer. "1 p.m.! Why didn't anyone wake me up!" I groaned as I ran around getting dressed. A small window began blinking and opened the IM. DRunkeN PiRAcY: You, me, Dan, Shana, Derick, and Adam. mall, 2, my mom'll pick us up NiraOfTheWind: Um...ok DRunkeN PiRAcY: Be there NiraOfTheWind: Yes ma'm miss Cristi ma'm I signed off and got dressed. I grabbed my wallet as the van pulled up and gritted my teeth, knowing who I was going to face inside. The look said exactly what I thought it would. Pretty much get the hell away from me and never come near me again. I sighed and slouched into the seat next to Shana and watched as Cristi climbed into the front seat next to here mom. "We ready?" She flashed the six of us a grin, completly ignoreing the tention in the van, and settled in her seat. I could feel Dan's gaze burning through the seat and into the back of my head. Dear lord what was I doing here? I sighed and got comfortable, curling up into a tight ball. To my suprise I saw Dan do the same. Shana flashed me a look. What's going on? Why is he acting like you? I sighed and felt my eyelids growing heavy. I don't know Shana..I don't... I was out like a light. In the distance I felt someone shakeing me, heard someone frantically calling mine and Dan's names, but I was too far gone. He was shakeing, I could tell that much. He was trembling in my arms. "Dan..Dan..what's wrong?" I'd never felt this drowsy before, I had my head leaning against his shoulder, but he was far weaker. "Shh..shh, it's ok. Dan..why are we like this?" His voice was a whisper. "I'm sorry Nira..but you wouldn't stay away...you kept following me here..kept putting yourself in danger. Now you're weak, why did you follow me?! You were suppost to stay full awake, only one of the two could wake us up, now we are lost." I pressed him to me, then eased both of us up. "Do not underestimate Shana, that girl is stronger than, hell, anyone. She lives to comfort you, she loves you." I heard him drag out a haggared sigh "And..and I love her, you're right Nira. I do, I love my little light...but my careing for you is beyond all understanding, so I avoid it." He gave me a weak smile. What? What do you... I was at the mall, I saw it as the car approached. my gaze locked with his for a brief moment, then we broke it. The hatred was still there. I let out a small cry and got out of the van. It wasn't fair.
