“Let me go! Let me goooo!” Jennifer kept trying to break his grip, but it was no use. The man was starting to get agitated. “Why won’t you stop wriggling!” He punched her in the face. The last sound she heard was the sound of wheels on a carriage and the whooshing sound of the wind against the carriage.
Chapter Five
Jennifer awoke in a dungeon. She felt a wetness on her head and she wiped it with her sleeve. Blood. Her head started aching. She looked down at her ankles. There were shackles on them. She thought of a single line of a poem. I’m all alone again, she thought.
Alexander Michaels was standing there, drenched in blood, holding a sword. “I already took care of your guards. You’re next.”
He pushed her behind him, and held the knife to Leo’s throat. “Are you really planning kill me? You don’t know this, but you need me in order to get out of this place. There are millions of tunnels in this place, and there’s only one way out. The way always changes, so you can never go back the way you came. I, however, always know when and how the tunnels change. I guess you could say I have a mental map that changes with the tunnels. So you see, you need me alive.”
