Journal Whatever I feel like writing about. Probably some random stories sometime. Not that they're very interesting. I'm a horrible writer :(

Heh heh, once again, this is another story I wrote a while ago. It was a writing activity. You were supposed to open a book to a random page and take a sentence from it. This would be your starting sentence. I used the first paragraph from a chapter from some random book I was reading at the time. You might think the story turned out a little weird, but I'll let you be the judge of that. By the way, I have no idea why I named it the way I did...

"If we go forward we die, if we go backward we die. Let us go forward and die!"

"I cannot believe it." Petra's hand was shaking as she dropped a stack of pancakes onto my plate. "I still cannot believe it. In a week he will be here."

Of course, she was talking about the mailman. He ran off with her dog.

Petra turned to drop pancakes onto Ali's plate, but missed and they landed on her lap.

Ali shrieked and flung them at me. I caught them in my mouth and swallowed them whole. Without maple syrup. Everyone stopped what they were doing to stare at me.

My head swung around panicked, searching the room. Finally I spotted it on the counter behind Ali. I leaped across the table—knocking Ali down and cracking the wooden chair—and grabbed the maple syrup. I tilted my head back, but no sweetness filled my mouth. I then remembered to take the cap off and repeated my engulfment of the sugary substance.

Without warning, some caught in my throat. I started to choke. Petra—whose was frying up even more pancakes—turned toward me. She flipped the burnt batter into the air and smacked it with the bottom of the pan at me. Being burnt, crispy, and hard, it hit me in the back with so much force that the syrup was dislodged. It flew from my open mouth onto the floor.

My eyes widened with horror. Quickly, I leaped to the floor to rescue my precious maple syrup. Like a dog, I started to lap it up, ignoring the fact that Petra hadn't cleaned the floor in eight years.

After breakfast, Ali and I went to play outside. I "accidentally" kicked the ball into the street and Ali went to get it. Unfortunately, a large black truck was speeding down the street. I chose this moment to do something heroic. I took off my shoe and threw it at it. This had no effect.

We served pancakes at Ali's funeral.
