My friend's sister wanted me to help her write a friendship story. Well, eh, here it is!
I have a friend that gets on my nerves about princesses. Her name is Sara. Ever since preschool, she would talk non-stop about them. What they wear, how they eat, how they act… I don’t like princesses – at all. (I like cats the best.) My name is Julie. Everyday, I try my best to keep myself calm every time Sara brags about princesses. Although, it was easier said than done.
Sara, one day, said rudely, “Who cares? I love princesses.”
That’s what got on my last nerve. I shrieked with anger, “YOU ARE SO MEAN! YOUR FAMILY IS TOO! I HATE YOU SO MUCH SARA!”
After that, it was done. We haven’t talked to each other in five years. We sat at different lunch tables. We have to do our homework by ourselves. We don’t even spend the night at each other’s house anymore! I was so upset with myself. How could I just say those few and hurtful words without even thinking? That was back in second grade, and – what? – we’re in seventh grade now? I should ask if we could be friends again.
I walked up to Sara during locker period and, gasping for air, said, “Sara, I know what I have said to you that many years ago was wrong. I should have not said those harsh words to you. Can you forgive me?”
Sara just looked at me with a confused look. Then, grinning, she replied, “Please, Julie, I gave up liking princesses when I was in third grade.”
“So,” I began, “is that a yes?”
Slowly, Sara nodded. Full of joy, I gave Sara the tightest hug that I ever gave her in all my life. I was glad we were friends again.
