Before I became a Christian I was like a lot of people. I went to church, I knew about Jesus and God. I knew God was real. I just never really took the time to accept Him. I understood the messages I heard in church but there always seemed to be something foriegn about them. I heard people say "today is the day of salvation" and "don't wait until tomorrow" but I just ignored them. I thought "I'll do it eventually" I also had gotten it in my head that there'd be this miraculous event and I'd just know that it was God. Looking back I think I was just making excuses and trying to get attention.
Then one day my view was changed. It was my third year at church camp. It was after lunch when Amanda came and got me for my one-on-ones. I had thought it would be a short Bible study thing that I could just get through with very few words but it wasn't. She asked me if I was saved, and a knot grew in my stomache. I knew about God but she was making me see that I really didn't know God. What she was telling me made sense and more than that they related to me. She asked me if I wanted to become a Christian and I nodded. I realized then that what i'd been searching for was right in front of me.
Before she prayed with me she said, "I have to warn you this will change your life" and she was right. Ever since then I have seen God all around me. One good example of God's prsence in my life is my brothers and sisters in Christ. When I used to have a bad day or a problem in my life I would keep it to myself. This led to a lot of lonliness. Now it seems like when ever somethings wrong my brothers and sisters are right there to help me. I know God loves me and I know he answers my prayers. It is my hope that I will be able to be a strong wittness for Christ and that I will continue to grow in Him as I have in these last7 months.
