Weapons: A small silver-bladed knife strapped to his left forearm, and an equally small pistol with UV bullets discreetly mounted at his side.
Abilities/Powers: Chimerstry, the ability to manipulate the world so that appears to be different than it is. In essence, the ability to create illusions which are capable of various senses dependent on the user. These illusions are more powerful when the subject is not aware that they exist. These illusions range from creating things which influence any or all of the senses, to creating illusions so 'real' that they begin to have an influence on the world.
Raphael's illusions can be targeted, with a person or group of people as the recipients, or at a higher cost to himself, he can project 'world' illusions that affect everything in the area. He is particularly skilled at using illusions to mask or disguise his and other's presences, and at creating illusionary worlds for single targets. Recently, he's been experimenting with creating illusory weapons that are world based and so real that they can have some sort of effect on those who are influenced by the illusion. Anything beyond simple visual illusions take a heavy toll on him however.
Appearance:
Raphael was once described as "The shadow with a thousand faces", a name he has worked hard to promote. Raphael has practiced to the point that even in his sleep he holds an illusion in place. This makes his appearance very difficult to pinpoint. He does however favor several illusions, using them regularly. The most commonly used of these is his "Businessman" appearance.
With this illusion, Raphael presents himself as a well built man of perhaps six feet, with close-cropped blonde hair that trims a well-featured face. Sporting a prominent chin, wide cheekbones, and piercing blue eyes, he tends to dress in a grey suit and tie in this guise. Always clean shaven, and appearing in his mid-thirties, this is the face that the majority of The Franchise's more reputable customers know as "Raphael".
Next in use is his "Gypsey" appearance. Aquiline, hawkish features crowd around a pair of dark, slanted eyes. Favoring the appearance outdated spanish dress, this entire persona radiates a sort of shabby or worn elegance. A significantly lighter wiry frame accompanies this image, topped by slick black hair that curls into ringlets as it falls down his narrow shoulders.
His actual features are much milder than either of his favorite appearances, with an indistinct blend of european features layed out in a young, but calculating face. Raphael's brown eyes continually dart about and he tends to keep his hair close-cut and out of the way. Soft, unremarkable features are much younger than he typically presents himself, and but for his calculating eyes one might mistake him as barely out of adolescence. Regardless of the illusion he happens to be wearing, he tends to wear a single silver earring through his left ear, and a matching silver band around his right wrist. Since he has been practicing disguises since his teen years, the number of people who would recognize him are few and far between, but all would say that due to his reliance on illusions for appearance, without them his face betrays far too many emotions for his profession.
History: Raphael began one noisy night in a small apartment bedroom somewhere in the less favorable part of Paris. The specifics are vague, but they involved a blood vampire of the Ravnos clan sating multiple desires on a single night. Raphael has never been sure who exactly his father was, other than that he likely died the same night his mother conceived.
Raised as a part of the rare middle class by his mother, Raphael was well educated in most things, especially his vampiric heritage. As a tribute to the control his mother left him, he only once went into a blood frenzy, and this during the turbulent teenage years. On finishing high-school, he immediately went into the more lucrative side of business, falling into black-market dealings under Kly Nero's gang. His illusory abilities served him well on the rough and tough streets, and he developed a definitively manipulative personality in dealing with the various buyers and competitive, lacking both the physical and personal strength to stand up to people directly.
Then he met Cyllian Lake.
Working for the same man, Raphael came as close to love at first sight as possible. From the first moment they met, he admired the strength and daring of the brown-tressed girl. Everything about her fascinated him, from her fearsome pet to her businesslike attitude. But being masked in all things, Raphael disguised his feelings with duty, and devoted himself to becoming her right-hand man. When she began The Franchise, Raphael was the first person to follow her from Kly's gang. Now he deals with some of the shadier prospects of the business, mainly concerned with protecting Lake and The Franchise from hostile and other attacks.
