Another year dawns at Hogwarts, and I am more full of anticipation than any before. I received my O.W.L. scores over the course of the summer and was quite happy with my overall performance. A bit of patience and studying paid off... if only I could have conveyed that to Sirius more strongly. I'm sure he did fine though, troubled genius that he is.

I am looking forward to focusing more intently on my chosen courses - whittling down eight courses to five, for N.E.W.T. level wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be. I scored high enough on the O.W.L.s to really pursue a wide range of classes... but I think I managed to pick my strongest subjects to stick with.

Also, another year as Prefect. Another year of squabbling, bickering, disorderliness, confusion, and triumph. It's rather hard to put my thoughts on the subject down. I don't relish in the power I hold, not do I flaunt it in the face of others... but at times it brings me solace to know that I am trusted thusly. I think Dumbledore only chose me so that I may exert a fraction of control over my fellow Marauders... but I am disappointed to say that more often than not their combined wills eclipse my common sense. Whatever his reasoning, I know Dumbledore doesn't choose lightly, so I aspire to meet his expectations...

He's already done so much for me...

Thinking on the Marauders now, I can only begin to fathom what mischief will find its way into our lives this year. James and Sirius have a knack for brewing up trouble between themselves, but on more than one occasion I've been pulled into it side by side with Peter. And by Merlin's beard, I hope they don't keep using Peter as the scape-goat...

I also hope they lean to keep a lid on things better this year also. Too many times did I find myself wincing or cringing as a discussion veered too close to the on going escapades that stem from every full moon. They need to remember that they can't flaunt our adventures, or their status as animagus... they've all worked so hard at it... and for me. Prefect or not, I couldn't help them were they to be discovered....

Mr. Moony needs to be settling down, and to start contemplating the list of books to be purchased for his classes... so I believe that I'll have to return to these thoughts later.
