I look up at the midnight sky, Searching the vastness for a single star. I look with such intent as this star came into sight, Reaching out to hold it still so out of reach. Trying to hold this star brighter then all others, A star that shined with a care free radiance.
I shift my glance from bright star to the moons radiance, The brightness of the moon encasing my sight. A moon whose light was rained down from the sky, This light touched everything within it’s great reach. Watching the moon which faded the star, Back in the sky the star seems like the others.
The star hides in place behind all the others, Wary of me and fearing my sight. Watching me from a far it tones down its radiance, It seemed to move slightly in the distant sky. Not able to focus from the light of the moon I forget the star, Feeling the moon resting close within my reach.
The beautiful face of the moon in my hand is in my reach, I feel myself grow so I can touch the sky. The eyes of the moon always keeping me in sight, Watching me alone with eyes for no others. Moonlight on my flesh from love’s eternal radiance, A light that is far more brilliant than that of the star.
I hide in a moonlight shadow away from the star, Who peeks from the back not seeing my own radiance. Laughing with my moon at the star in the sky, To all else’s touch I stay just beyond there reach, Only the moon has so held onto my sight.
Pearly white moonlight which gives me my sight, On the darkest of nights I see your brilliant radiance. You light my path with light unmatched my the star, Which hides itself so far away upon the surface of the sky. You sit so timidly different among others, You watch me carefully as I stand within your reach.
You give others a reason to look at the sky, Only I am able to reach inside of your glistening radiance. The fake light of the star only causes me to look at you with better sight.
