It was dark, though the slits of light pouring through the treetops told him that it was day. Derran couldn't even see in this night. And still he didn't move. For he wasn't in the light either. There was some one else. Shadows couldn't tell much, but they told enough. And the one he'd seen was good enough for him. The presence was still here.
His eyes scanned the area once again for the hundreth time searching for the one unmistakeble shadow. The same, he knew, went for himself. That shadow knew he was there as well. But who would give up their position first?
Ceria's heart pouned loudly. And she was afraid that it was loud enough to hear. She held her small pack close to her, the egg allmost shaking inside with fear. It, actually, kind of tickled. She didn't move. For if she did she would have to run. And she knew nothing of her enemies strengths or weaknesses.
Her eyes, though, unseen, held worrying beyond belief. She felt the pack vibrating with a powerful energy. Unfortunately, it was causing a sound. Soft, but she knew it would get louder, gradually, with time. Not now, she thought. But it seemed the egg was really scared or something. A vibe in her told her to run, but her instincts told her to stay and silently. Her breathing increased, and she was afriad her enemy heard that as well.
In the silence of the darkness, was, ironically, a sound of fate. Derran stared intent in the direction he thought it came form. It sounded odd. It was a humming. He blinked. Was he staring as some animal pertecting it's child? There was a glow, that was very dim, but, sequencially getting brighter. Soon, this animal or foe would be revealed.
This feeling, had never been felt before. Ceria was actually confused of her feelings. She felt torn. She wanted-needed to run, but she needed to stay put. Her eyes went around the darkness that surounded her until she looked down at her pack. It was starting to glow. She didn't move. In fact, she doesn't even recall breathing.
He winced to try and develop his eyes to the darkness. The glowing had gotten bright enough to see a faint but aparrent form. His eyes waited until he was sureof what it was. A smile crossed his face. It was human. And better yet, the cloaked man he'd been following.
The need to run became so strong that Ceria finally obeyed it. She did a full three-sixty and ran for her, and the little fire lizard's life. Indeed, as she knew she would, was being followed.
