She wants to shine Like a star in the sky Higher and higher, brighter and brighter But she's fading and shall soon fall The more she tries the harder it gets Lower and lower, smaller and smaller
Her words don't seem to mean much She starts to say more, as if in a chant Hoping with all she says... Maybe she can find truth in something I think she's become out of my reach
Like a star in the sky Higher and Higher, brighter and brighter But she's fading and shall soon fall The more I try the harder it gets Lower and lower, smaller and smaller
As I stare at her with desperation Her eyes are coated with a dull lifeless glaze How do you save a victim not yelling for help?
If she plays her cards right No one will ever start to notice Just how close she is to the edge They don't even see the message Written clearly in black on her forehead
She ready to call it quits I'm taking suicide But she won't pull the trigger She's not going to slit her wrist Instead I watch her helplessly
Her method is soft and slow It's so gentle it's cruel Don't confuse the method for overdose
I'm watching her drown in regret Saying it's okay, as she fakes her life Watching her memories in the back of her head
She's eating just enough Barely getting any sleep Drinking just a little too much And she can't help but drive above the limit Speeding right towards a cliff
It's soft, it's slow, and no one else wants to see
Like a falling star... lower and lower, smaller and smaller And no one will be the wiser Because it'll shine brightest Right before it hits the ground
It's slow... It's soft... But still... It's suicide...
This poem is about my mother and how all I can do is stare into her empty eyes.
