I couldn't have said it better myself 3nodding ))
I was on during pretty much the WHOLE event. I hadn't even slept, just because I wanted to reach the desired lvl 5.
Things were going great. People were getting along, earning points through the whole 130+ and similair topics.
It was pretty much smooth sailing until I hit 160...
I ended up going to sleep for about 3 hours (if one could call it sleep).
Then all of a sudden when I returned it seemed the 'leechers' declared war on people with higher numbers, claiming they were being elitists. Where in the world THAT came from I don't know. Most likely sheer jelousy rolleyes
Not only did things slow down, the calm, friendly atmosfere was pretty much gone.
After a LOT of trouble and hours of running from one topic to another, I got to a complete standstill at 206...ow how I hate that number stare
all the 200+ topics were taken over and the people with higher points were SO worries about leechers they were enforcing their threads like they would a safe. Don't really blame them sweatdrop
After a while, I noticed we would be unable to get any farther unless we took actions. I was forced to go as far as to make an underground topics in diguise as a non 200+ topic. We were forced to hide out. That is not only a lousy way to spend your halloween, it's also beyond belief that something like that had to happen on a nice place like Gaia.
I PMed random people around the same number as me (didn't know even one of them before) and asked them to form a group with the motivation to help eachother get all the way to the top and beyond.
At first, I thought they wouldn't respond, that I just wasn't trying hard enough. But amazingly pretty much ALL of them answerred with a positive reply and out group was formed. I enforced my topic with pretty much an iron rule (never had so many people in my ignore list before blaugh ) because apparantly the leechers wouldn't even leave a 'private chat' topic alone stare
Regardless of what happened and all the set-backs, we made it. Together. We helped eachother, even if our numbers were above 500, we stuck with eachother and bonds of trust were born. (Sounds soooooo corny X3).
I don't think I'll ever forget how they ended up boosting me after I had to leave gaia temporarily and fell behind. They stuck with me the whole way.
When I asked for their help, they gave it without expecting anything in return. That really kind of moved me, how loyal people were to eachother without even meeting before that event. In my opinion, this was the goal the admins/mods had been trying to reach from the start 3nodding
Leechers tried and tried, they cost me a lot of points and time and made a lot of our attemps fail. But still, so many of us supposed 'elitists' made it to the 500+ goal. My feelings and understandings to those who desperately tried and ended up failing, my congratulations to those who made it 4laugh
I think I said my piece on the matter, I'll go shut up now X3
))
