Something I wrote just now... a little drabbling poem.
Here’s the sort of person I am
Here upon this page
My sister breaks out in prithee-speech
My brother quotes quantum physics
My father is a republican
My mother is a hippie
My best friend is an old orange cat
My best pet is a girl named Lauren
I wear my hair both loose and long
I keep a brush in my purse
You’ll never see me without a book
Or where the sun burns brightly
I grew up raise on Tolken
I grew down as my peer group changed
I spoke too soon and ate broccoli pizza
I was every doctor’s bane
I slugged my brother off the couch
He teased me most horribly
And when he played at Superman
I became the Supervisor
My bunny is still my favorite toy
I’ve saved my baby blanket
And I couldn’t release that old bunk-bed
Or the desk my mother made
Today I am a writer
Someday I hope to be more
To write a book and have it bound
And sold from store to store
Today I am a daughter
Someday I’ll be a mother
And teach my kids as I was taught
Everything that matters
Today I’m just a stranger
Someday I may be a lover
So tip your hat to stranger people
And see what you uncover
