Prologue
The boy walked down the stairs.
"Mom? Dad?" He walked over to the front door. He looked at the buttons. 4068603. He typed. "Hmm... Mom?" A sound came from behind him. he turned and saw... a ghost.
"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!" He fell to the floor. He looked shock. speechless. leave me alone. he yelled. He ran into the little cupboard under the stairs. the door slambed behind him. he was locked in.
Chapter 1
I looked out my school’s window, I saw the snowy plains. Everyone was looking in different directions. I wondered how long my teacher was going to wait till he called all of our attentions. Still I waited. He looked at his teachers addition of our vocabulary book. He walked to the board and grabbed a piece of chalk.
“Alright Class listen up.” Finally. I thought. “We are going to have a field trip. To the community: 3468603. The number caught my attention. The teacher looked at us. He had just lost his hair so he had a huge bald spot on the top of his head. “Now. This community is all about numbers. So when we go, I don’t want anyone talking about there cultures. I looked at my desk. The teacher walked through the rows and handed out papers. On it had seven numbers for all of us. Mine said: 4068603.
“Grand.” He called to me. Grand. My name. It had been really a nickname but everyone called me that because… Actually I don’t know why.
“Yes Mr. Brogly.” I looked at him with surprise, that he called on me.
“Look, let’s see. Now what’s your number?”
“umm. 4068603!” I looked at him. He looked a little in shock.
“4068603?” He looked at me confused. “There had been a child there once. He… never mind now class get your permission slips signed.
