Rhia sat in the Naboo Delegation pod, covering her ears to the deafening roar of the senators. Rister sat next to her, scrunched down in his seat as far as he could go. He didn't want to be hear, and she knew it. He seemed to think he might not have to speak up. That dream was drifting farther and farther away as Senator Aeric yelled out his opinion of the Jedi so all could hear.
See this?! This is a copy of the arrests made in the last two months! Twenty Jedi have been arrested! Twenty, and all on counts of murder. They cannot be trusted, that is obvious. So why are we allowing them to run free. If twenty Jedi have been arrested how many have turned to the Dark Alliance without our knowing?!!
The roar of the senate grew louder. Rhia glanced over at Rister, meeting his eye. He seemed to age right before her eyes, turning a sickly pale yellow. She gave him a weak smile then directed her pod into the speaking area.
Senators, twenty out of almost Twenty-Thousand have been arrested. The odds of another arrest in the next month are one in Nine hundred and ninety-nine. In other words, one in every one-thousand Jedi get arrested! The majority of the Jedi are good people, here to protect the Republic and it's inhabitants!
The senate roared again, but with different voices this time. Rhia frowned as she reallized how much quieter this "roar" was. She turned to Rister and whispered in his ear.
I know you are nervous, but now is the time my love.
She watched Rister get weakly to his feet.
All my life I have worked with the Jedi, and encountered but one that I did not trust! Rhia winced as she heard the uncertainty in his voice. She didn't like to hear him speak so shakely. She reached up and grabbed his hand, hoping to give him strength and confidence merely by squeezing it.
I have fought loyaly next to the Republic for three years and will remain so. I have fought with many a Jedi who have been killed serving you! Do not turn on them, who have so loyally served you. Do not loose an ally that will never give up on you! Rhia smiled, it had worked. The boos slowly quieted and a new cheer erupted. She looked up into his eyes.
You have done it my love. It wasn't so hard now was it?
