Movie: Penelope
Song/Artist: Enya- Carribean Blue, Paint the Sky With Stars
Hmmm, it has been awhile since I've even tried to attempt at writing my thoughts down. Maybe this is improvement, a development of sorts rising from the ashes that have become me. I have had a bit of inspiration from watching the movie Penelope. The story is truly an enduring and beautiful one. I wondered as I watched, why it is that women, ladies, girls, whatever we may be known as, are so unaware of the wondrous gift that we are graced with? Don't misunderstand me, please, as I know there are those who are thought unworthy to claim such as, or much rather, should be unworthy to claim so. Those women whose lack of compassion for others and vain, self-less, scandalous attitude stains the very events and surroundings we find ourselves in at most unfortunate times. These are not the women I speak of above. I speak of women who are passed consistently on the street, or in school, or at work; the gentle creatures who others (men as well as our peers) ignore because the aforementioned because they do not compare or succeed to their expectations in outer beauty, self-confidence, knowledge, or social status. What a shame this has come to our human race! These amazing creatures deserve every attention, every smile, every care of their surrounded peers. Why should their differences be the mark on which you decide their fate for them? More than one young lady that I've known had mentioned that a single smile could change the way they viewed the world. No longer would it be a place of loneliness and of lost forgotten hopes. A smile, a hello, a caring hand to lead them to encourage them to look beyond their mirrors every morning. To look behind those gentle eyes, behind the forced smile they wear every day just to show that they could be like everyone else, just so they would know, they are someone to be noticed, they are worth being noticed. Not to say that we should need anyone else to show us how enchanting we can be. It's always been there. Sometimes, in life, hardships, difficult lessons learned, and complicated obstacles tread, the pain, no matter what level, keeps building wall after wall, striving to protect the one thing that we can truly call ours. Sometimes we just forget that we possess it. The one thing, that when allowed freedom, can inspire those who had no hope, can heal wounds that no one deemed curable, bring light to any dark hour, and show love in such an tender way as to surpass all things. Every woman, lady, girl, you possess this beautiful thing. With everyone it is different. No one person's is the same. That is what makes you, you. The amazing, glorious unique gift of you. I pray that every deserving woman discovers herself to this distinction. I hope that the gentlemen who is blessed to find this person dances the night away in pure bliss on finding the star's most precious gift given to man. That the friends and acquaintances whose fate destined them to cross with these angels find comfort in knowing that though war and famine, pain and death, they can still gaze upon our world, and still find beauty in it all.
