Last week on Monday, July 5th, my mom went in for a rountine knee surgery. I stayed with her in the hospital to help her around. On Wednesday the 8th, I woke up to the nurses doing compressions on her, trying to get her pulse back. It was a fight, and they didn't know how long she hadn't been breathing. They got her pulse back and moved her to the intensive care unit. She wouldn't breathe on her own, so they put her on a resperator. That morning, she went into a coma. On Friday, the doctor ordered a test to check whether or not she even had any oxygen going to her brain.
The test came back negative. She was braindead. That afternoon, they declared her dead as they turned off the machines. My family gathered around before that time to say our last goodbyes. My mom died Friday, July 10th 2009. Last Tuesday was her memorial and the day we buried her ashes. I ask for a time of aloneness to mourn.
