Principia Obscurus
Wherein I braindump, no matter how ridiculous
Name: Marcellus Anstruther

Nickname: Box-face

Other Names: Leer, Falseman, Liederman, Gyrovague, Hucilluctor, Sense-holder, Perspicrith, Cognister, Vatiseer

Age: 54

Sex: Male

Species: Homo Sapien (Everyman)

Appearance:

The Nude - He is a thin and wiry man, standing at 5'11" and though far past his prime, he is still muscled. His skin is darkly blotched in many places and there is significant chemical scarring across his chest and upper arms as well as his back and the upper left leg. His right arm bears a cruorpunxis (monster-blood tattoo), the dark brown ichor twisted into trailing vines under his skin. Oddly enough, his hair is still black as pitch but not quite as full as when he was young. The most striking of his features is his eyes. Where there should be whites there is bloody red and the pupils have become a bright blue.

Abilities:

[Lvl. 3] Altered Eyesight - The washes Marc soaked his eyes in, the ritual that turned him into a leer, changed his eyes from white and black to red and blue. He can see farther, sharper and in greater detail than any normal being. He can notice small minute details that most people would never find or even think of.

[Lvl. 3] Root out the Liars - He can tell when a person is lying by reading their body language. Years of practice has made him a master of the technique and his altered eyesight vastly improves this ability, which is why falsemen are so valued in higher courts.

[Lvl. 3] Threwd - The sensation of watchfulness or awareness of the land or waters around. Marcellus is closely linked with the land and as such is aware of horrors that blight the land. Unnatural creatures such as demons and monsters set off a sixth-sense. Paltry threwd ( Uneasiness, as if under uncomfortable observation) is the mildest form while pernicious threwd (Unfounded terrors and dark paranoias, a man can go mad) is the worst.

[Lvl. 2] The Pride of Everyman - Not so much an ability but a personality trait that ties into his drive to live (sorta). Marcellus is an extremely proud man and will not accept defeat from anything less than a human being. This hatred and bigotry keeps him on his feet when facing an inhuman foe. Triple his stats, effectively raising him to their level (or something).

Personality: (( This needs to be heavily refined. Don't read too much into what's put here just yet. ))

Marcellus is a suspicious and bitter man. Ever since becoming a falseman and learning of the darkness that exists in everyman, Marc trusts no one. His first encounter with a monster set him against them immediately and his hatred for the unnatural only grew with age. Wicked ideas against the monsters entertain him at times and tickle his fancy.

Marc is aware of the ways of the world but does little to hide his true emotions or reactions to things. He doesn't care; there is little in his life worth taking advantage of. He does, however, see the virtue of his age and leg injury and will not hesitate to use his wounds to his profit.

Will sacrifice anyone to get to his objective.

Equipment:

[Lvl. 3] Hauncet - Heavy-barreled flintlock that delivers a heavy, crushing blow of a shot. Large rounds. Barrel is specially treated to fire skold-shot. When loaded with skold-shot it becomes a deadly weapon to fey creatures.

[Lvl. 3] Longrifle - Smooth-bore musket with an extraordinarily long barrel to provide greater accuracy. Can be loaded with regular shot or skold-shot. Skold-shot greatly increases wear and tear on the barrel.

[Lvl. 3] Sthenicon - A biologue used by Marc. It can detect every scent of every living thing, big or small, that moved within a two mile radius. The advanced biologically engineered organs within the plain looking box send nerve-packed tendrils into the eyes, nose and mouth of the wearer (Marc). Wearing the biologue for too long is dangerous as the alien organs might fuse permanently with everyman organs. As such, Marc only breaks out the sthenicon if need be, as removing it after only a short time is uncomfortable and disorienting.

[Lvl. 1] Bullet Bag - A leather bag containing his lead shot. Holds about fifty (50) rounds.

[Lvl. 3] Skold-shot Case - No fancy name for this one. A plain wooden case about a foot in length and height, three inches deep. It radiates threwd (fear, horror, uneasiness) due to chemicals used to proof the inside against the chemicals coating the skold-shot stored inside. Holds thirty (30) rounds of skold-shot.

[Lvl. 1] Powder Horn - Exactly what is says on the tin. Leather bag in the shape of a horn/funnel used to reload and repack the powder for his hauncet and longrifle.

[Lvl. 1] Tuck - A short blade, not as long as a jacksword and not as heavy, but two edged and easy to wield.

[Lvl. 3] Jackcoat - Similar to a frock coat but only reaches to the mid-thigh and does not flare out as jauntily. It is heavy and made of thick yet comfortable fibers. It is treated with powerful gaulding (chemicals that harden the cloth against impact) to defend against shot and blade. It can withstand several shots from low calibre rounds, and many more from old musket shot.

[Lvl. 2] Vigorants - Restorative potives. They cannot seal wounds in minutes but boost the body's natural healing process. Not very effective when dealing with critical wounds, but scrapes and minor injuries are easily taken care of. Considered to be powerful painkillers. Last about half a day.

[Lvl. 2] Bothersalts - A powerful potive that affects the mucous membrane, such as inside the nose and throat as well as the eyes. It smells terrible and shortly after being thrown grows even worse. Deterrent. They can cause temporary or even permanent blindness as the chemicals burn at the fragile tissue. When properly contained and stored, lasts many months.

[Lvl. 2] Bellpomash - A mild restorative which, when drunk, is said to help the clotting and healing of wounds by fortifying the body's functions from within. When stored, lasts about a week, when ingested, eight hours (or so).

[Lvl. 2] Birchet - Restorative draft used to reduce swelling and numb pain. Its powerful reaction with the body when first swallowed is thought to help against the rise of fever as well. Lasts a few hours.

[Lvl. 3] Nullodours - Very powerful drafts that when rubbed on the body completely eliminate the wearer's scent. Excellent at throwing off trackers. The downside is that if being tracked, the tracker could follow a trail of nothing and thus still end up finding you. Lasts a full day.

[Lvl. 3] Loomblaze - A powerful reppellant that is also part fulminant. I poisons and burns with false-fire (chemical flames akin to Greek Fire).

[Lvl. 3] Jackboots - High boots that reach over the knee and have a flaring 'collar' about the top, but being open at the back. Leather and proofed with the same gaulding as what protects the jackcoat. Metal shin-collars are attached underneath the boot 'collar', providing extra protection.

History:

Born.

By thirteen he was studying other children and was very attentive to detail. He decided he would become a leer as soon as possible. He matured quickly and underwent the months of soaking his eyes at seventeen. By twenty he was a full blown falseman, but still wet behind the ears. He was, however, quickly moving up in the ranks of falsemen and rose to the High Courts, becoming a trusted adviser. But life as a falseman was anything but fun and games. The constant job of detecting falsehoods and treachery in the High Courts strained his mind and made a deadly game even deadlier. Politics...frustrated him. Three assassination attempts were made on his life by the time her was twenty-two. By twenty-five he'd become borderline paranoid and nearly always wore his sthenicon in public. He frequently risked becoming a breach-faced leer, or one who has let his biologue grow too far into his face. Many thought he had already become fused with the weird science.

By thirty years of age he was an accomplished falseman; one of the best but also one of the worst. He became engrossed in the dark arts and in the creation of illegal made-monsters. Necromancy, if you will, though no magic was involved.

^ That was lame. Edit it out, change it around, stop emulating House.
