Paper Wings
This and That.
Julian's Downfall
[ IC: Ciridan ]

Father, Julian, was always mentioning how great a man his kid brother was and Uncle, Glenn,wWas always ranting and despising him.
Why didn't they just get each other? Then all of this would've been avoided...
Why did father love him so much? How could he love a man who greatly hated him? I will never know.

A heated argument started between the two. A strange things to argue about at that. I don't know why father was travelling with him at first. I was asked to stay at camp by father, for he didn't want me to witness what would go on. So I staye, as ordered. I knew if something went wrong, father could handle it.

I could hear Uncle Glenn's screaming, and Father's soft, soothing voice, being carried along with the wind. Father was trying to reason with him, but Glenn just kept denying it... What an ignorant man...

Everything was quiet for a moment, all that could be heard was wind and squawking of the birds...
I felt something, quite strange... Too strange. It would only get this quiet if they were coming back, together. But they weren't, I know they weren't, if they were...

I paced for a bit, then decided to head off in their direction. Kicking off twigs and throwing them aside as I ran. Running as if I was running for my life. I arrived, a bit tired. They travelled out this far just for an argument, unbelieveable.

But what I saw, scared me. I took steps forward, staggering a bit.
Taking short, uneasy breaths. I extended my arms to reach out for my father. Who had now been laying in my uncle's arms. Sword impailed in his stomach. Cold sweat ran down my face. Father was wincing with his every breath, but he still smiled...

"What have you done this time father?" I cried as I grasped onto the fabric of his shirt. "Why did it turn out like this..."

He slowly turned his head, the excitment in his eyes fading.

"I have done," he paused and winced, pain was getting to him "many wrongs. To try and makes things right."

"But you have made things right!" I tightened my grip on his shirt. My eyes sharpening, feeling watery. I used the back of my sleeve to wipe tears away.

"It's my fault, I'm sorry Ciridan. I'm sorry Julian, for denying you." Glenn finally spoke, his words shaky. "I didn't know what came over me... It just, hapened."

I took a deep breath, the smell of blood entering my nostrils, travelling to my brain, making a memory. I let go of father's shirt and placed the back of my hand on his cheek then moved down to the necklace around his neck. He placed his hand on mine.

"Take it... A gift from me to you..." I stared him in the eyes, emotion still fading... I reached around his neck and undid the necklace. He looked up at Glenn and spoke again. "Take care of my son, Ciridan... By the way you were always my favorite brother." He winced then grunted. His eyes slowly closing, mouth still smiling. Hands turning cold.

"Oh,,, Father." I grabbed his hand and kissed it. "You were the best father, I could ever ask for..." I dropped his hand then stood.

Glenn lay down father's limp, dead body on the ground, and struggled to pull the sword out. Throwing it to the side. I set his hands ontop of his stomach, putting him in a position that made him look innocent, harmless, and peaceful.

We had no way of giving him a proper burial, but we buried him anyways.
And that night, I slept on his grave, and prayed for him a peaceful time in the after-life.

Father I will miss you.
