Name: Patches (real name) Jeremy
Sex: Male
Age: 8 years
Physical Description: Small and wiry, covered from head to toe with scars. His right eye has no pupil or Iris, it's just pure, bloody and red. His other eye is pale blue. His hair is shoulder length, mousy brown with a dusting of gray in it and he usually has it messily tied into a pony tail. He wears threadbare t-shirt and pants, covered with stitches and patches, and usually goes barefoot. He drags around a purple and black stitched up stuffed dragon, named Ignatz. Patches gets hysterical if he and Ignatz are separated. Patches also suffers from schizophrenia and Dissociative Identity Disorder. His perception of the world is not like anyone else. His mother disappeared when these symptoms began. H and his sister, Samantha, were sent to an Asylum where it seemed that his nightmare fantasies were becoming reality.
Memories: He remembered waking up, cold and alone in the dark, with only Ignatz with him to keep him safe. The room smelled musty and damp and he could hear things scuttling around in the shadows, just out of sight. Samantha hadn't come back. She said she would only be gone for a little bit, and that he had to be good and quite. She said no matter what he heard, he was not to move from this very spot until she came back for him. He was hungry and cold and he was sure the things in the dark were going to eat him if he closed his eyes again. He suspected that if Samantha hadn't come back, she wasn't going to be back. The Monster had gotten her.
He stood up and fumbled in the dark against the wall trying to find a way out of the dark place. The scrabbling in the dark got louder, and he clutched Ignatz tighter to him with his free hand as the other closed in on a cold metal handle. He turned it and tumbled out of the room into a dark hallway. He quickly closed the door behind him, closing away the skittling things, The hallway wasn't any better, the walls dingy and it was badly lit, the low humming of a faulty florescent went off in the background. He took a deep breath, gathering his courage. He had to find Sissy so that they could find Mummy and get out of the horrid place.
His right eye began itching furiously, he began to reach up to scratch at it, but Samantha voice echoed in his mind.
"Leave it alone," she told him as she smacked his figers away from this eye. "It will just start bleeding again. Promise me you'll leave it alone."
"Okay," he whimpered, hie eye throbbing painfully. He stayed as still as he could under her ministrations as she cleaned the wound and bandaged it.. "D-Do you think he'll be back?"
"No!" she hissed furiously, "That Monster won't hurt you again, I promise."
He sighed and moved his hand away, opting to scratch at Ignatz's eye instead. It made him feel a little bit better, but not much. He had to be careful. Samantha wasn't around to protect him from the Monster anymore.
He began to carefully creep down the hallway hugging Ignatz tight. The hallway was lined with doors. He could hear sounds coming from the rooms that made his hair stand on edge. Gathering up his courage once more, he went to each one, testing the knobs.
"Mummy?" he whispered against the doors, "Are you there?" The doors were locked, and the answering cries made him run to the next one. Finally he came to the last door in the hallway. He could see light coming from the edges of the door. It was slightly ajar. Unlike the other rooms this one was silent. He slowly pushed the door open.
"Mummy? Are you here?" he asked with a soft shaking voice. The room was deathly quiet and the silence frightened him more than the screams from the locked door. The dim light in the room flickered on and off making it hard for him to see, but he could make out a figure sitting in a chair facing the wall. He squinted his eye and crept forward, hugging Ignatz tight.
"M-Mummy? Is that you?"
The figure didn't move at all. He tried again.
"Mummy? Mummy, please talk to me!"
He crept around the figure and to his horror saw that it was Samantha. She was all blood and bruises and a knife sticking out of her chest.
"SAMANTHA!" he cried as dropped Ignatz, placing his hands on her shoulders. "Wake up, please wake up!"
Samantha didn't move, didn't make a sound. Sobbing, he pulled the knife from her chest, but regretted it immediately. Blood began pouring from the wound. He tried stopping the flow with his free hand, but it was useless.
"Samantha, pleaaaase wake up," he moaned, and suddenly his sister made a soft moaning sound. "Samantha?" He looked up at her face and could see her eyelids flutter. "Samantha! Please help me, I don't know what to do!" He grabbed at her hand and pushed it towards her wound. She began mumbling something softly. He moved closer to her, trying to make out what she was whispering.
"...please.... doctor. don't hurt him.. ll do anythin.." she mumbled disjointedly.
His brow furrowed in confusion. "Samantha, what are you talking abou-" suddenly her eyes flew open and she gazed over his shoulder and began to scream, He turned and followed her gaze, and nearly screamed out himself. The monster was here.
It's large frame filled the doorway, blocking out any route for escape. A white ragged coat hug off of it's skeletal limbs. It's large swollen belly was held up by stick legs, and the sparse light of the room glinted off it's glass eyes, sharp teeth and the blood and gore that splattered it's pale skin. It clicked it's knife tipped fingers against the door frame, and snickered at them in a low, oily voice.
Samantha continued to scream as the Monster leered at them, then in a flash of stained white cloth and knife blades it launched itself at them. He moved between it and Samantha, holding out the knife he had pulled out of her earlier. The blade sunk into the Monster's stomach and it let out a horrific screech. It's hands wrapped around his neck and he couldn't breath, but he pushed the knife further, turning it into the Monster's belly. The last thing he heard before the darkness took him was Samantha's sobbing screams and the Monster's howls of pain.
