This is what I am, peoples, a lady wot lunches. Otherwise known as the lightweight with friends who prefer to eat food and drink coffee rather than go out and get really drunk. Apparently prefering such an interaction makes me anti-social and insular. I actually think it's a rather more sociable option.

For one, you can actually hold a conversation with your friends without screaming over crowds and loud music. For another, you don't inevitably wind up with either yourself or one or other of your friends face down in a ditch drooling and vomiting while bewailing the unfairness of the universe/male person/work etc. I like the way that I socialise. Of course it means that I meet fewer new people on account of sitting and eating with certain circles, but I've never been overly good with new people.

Not only do I meet friends for lunch, or go out for lunch with colleagues, I also meet them in the morning for breakfast/coffee. Which is fun. Besides, my Starbucks addiction has lead to me making at least one new friend in the form of Tabby. I actually met her through a colleague and the three of us are hugely addicted to coffee.Tanousha and Tabby would have drinks in the morning and invite me to join them if I happened to be getting my coffee at the same time. If I'm in there and Tabby comes in on her own (or vice versa) one will invite the other to join them. It's nice, she's a good laugh, conversation comes easily, but she doesn't have to ask me to join her when Tanousha isn't there she just does.

The three of us went to lunch today. It was a riot! We laughed, we giggled, we shared embarrassing secrets and asked what Tabby could possibly see in her boss given that he's a complete pratt. I may have flirted a little with Starbucks Paul (it's innocent and there's no harm) and now Tanousha is determined to have us engaged by the end of the year. I think she's pushing a little for the impossible but what the heck, she can dream

I don't really have a point today, simply a ramble, but part of this is that it's nice to have friends. Until they decide to set you up with the guy in your favourite coffee place.
