Muddled light illuminates my dark room through open blinds.
I sit, staring outward-- my sanctuary.
Dare I open the window?
No, I dare not.
My dream, my wish, my sanctuary waits.
I fear I will catch cold.
The rain, beautiful rain, pours out of the silver clouds.
Brown against green against grey.
It’s so beautiful.
Dare I step outside?
No, I dare not.
I cannot resist the beauty any longer.
The rain is whispering to me.
It says to come out and walk.
Not just to walk. To walk barefoot.
Dare I?
I slide off my shoes and open the door.
The cold bursts onto my face.
Raindrops glisten as they fall upon my wavy hair.
I take my first step.
Cold! Cold! Too cold.
This is crazy, insane, a bad idea.
I take another step.
The cold went away.
I am on the lawn.
I watch my feet so I do not trip.
The water is soaking me.
I stand and stare at the sky.
I feel fresh and clean.
The air smells of rainwater and cut grass.
I am inside now.
The rain has ceased.
I dry off my hair and continue looking out the window.
I think to myself:
How I wish I could live barefoot in the rain.
Oh how my writing has improved. Haha.
