OceanBorne's Journal:
One fur's story, another's fickle intrest
Of Marches and Downpours
It's been fairly hectic as of late. I neglected some work early on in this semester, so now I'm in a bind and need to catch back up again. Also, my extra-curriculars are starting to pick up speed. but enough of that...

There are exciting developements in recent news! LA finally has some rain! no, no, not that... There was chaos as a bill against immagrents won partial approval. While the bill's intent is to protect the southern borders, prosecuting migrant workers and residents as criminals isn't the way to do it. It didn't go down well, as we saw saturday's and yesterday's marches. Yesterday there was a walk-out involving who knows how many schools, who traveled to City Hall in protest, taking the freeway, and the spotlight in the local news.

In the meanwhile, the school was trying to administer the California State Exams, with half the students gone. It was a wondrous day, chock-full of forgotten and spotty lockdowns, panic -mostly from the staff-, and several hour-long tests. It was fun to hear the principal, who had only been put into place this year, find out just how powerless he was.

I support the protests, but think the timing could have been better. Also, many of the kids who participated, didn't know why everyone was leaving the school - they were just going along with the crowd, to ditch class.
