Character Name: Saitou Ageha
Age: 18
Sex: Female
Role: Master
Appearance: [ Th-That is... Nice to meet you... ? ]

Homeland: Japan
Your Wish: Ageha doesn't have a 'wish,' per se; she's just read enough novels to know that when something like this happens, you can't back out even if you want to! If she somehow does manage to acquire the Grail, Ageha will probably wish to be a stronger person, or to have an exciting life.

History: Ageha is just a normal teenager, as much as a cliché as it might be; in fact, it's probably accurate to say that's she's even more mundane than most. Her life has been mostly-happy one as the only child of a middle-class Japanese family, and if she would have liked to spend more time with her parents as a child – if her salaryman father hadn't always been at work, if her mother hadn't always been nudging her gently towards her studies – well, Ageha knew better than to complain. The quintessential wallflower, Ageha has a few close friends, does reasonably well at school, and despite swooning over cute boys she never quite has the courage to approach one. All-in-all it was a pretty decent life for Ageha, who might have been a hikikomori by now if she hadn't pleaded with her parents for that job at the flower-shop; most nights, Ageha stayed in her tiny room and filled her head with novels and manga and the Internet, the completely-impossible but oh-so-exciting lives led by her favorite characters. Of course, all of this was shattered the day she was quietly studying in homeroom and a pain lanced through her arm, a thousand hot needles jabbed under her skin. It hurt, and came on so suddenly that Ageha cried out and bolted from her seat as it began to bleed... but, though she was taken to the infirmary, the nurse couldn't understand how it had happened. The middle-aged woman decided that Ageha had cut herself without noticing, perhaps on stray metal protruding from her desk, and Ageha's arm was bandaged as she wondered why no-one else could see those markings on her skin. She drifted through her shift at the florist's, wondering if maybe she'd finally lost her mind after cramming for afterschool exams, and that night she even skipped her homework to trawl the 'net for some kind of help. All she got was sketchy information from a few occult websites and way too many creepy otaku asking for pics. On the other hand, it wasn't as if she had a lot of leads-- So the next night, in the first 'rebellious' behavior she'd ever displayed, Ageha snuck out of her room and returned to the florist's, letting herself into the dusty back room with her key and following the strange designs and foreign words she'd dug up in the Tokyo archives. Even if it didn't work, Ageha felt as if she had to do something: Those marks hadn't faded, and sometimes she could even swear they glowed! The cobbled-together ritual worked, or perhaps it was the power of the Command Spells... but somehow Ageha managed to call a Heroic Spirit into the material world, and from then on her 'normal life' became something else altogether. When Ageha's parents announced that they would be visiting Ageha's grandmother in the country for their own health, they proudly made their trust in their daughter clear when they allowed her to remain at the apartment on her own for the whole of the three weeks; Ageha's guilt was nearly immeasurable when she took the money she'd saved and booked her flight to Europe, but what else could she do? A heroic Servant, the Holy Grail-- These things only come around once in a lifetime, if at all!

Personality: Ageha is, more-or-less, exactly what she looks like; though not actually shy, she tends to be quiet because she can never be sure of what to say at any given moment. Already used to tagging along after her more outgoing friends and going overlooked by others, Ageha is often surprised when people do address her directly; prone to drifting off into her own thoughts, she might literally start when she realizes they're speaking to her, and may stammer uncertainly unless she's already comfortable in their company. With a tendency to give way to stronger personalities, Ageha wouldn't seem like the kind of person who could be Class Representative, much less a Master in the Heaven's Feel... But situations change a person, and the new way things are going feel so unreal that Ageha is unconsciously losing her 'shyness'. Given to daydreams and wishful thinking, Ageha's soft demeanor masks a hardworking individual who has become determined to live up to this chance. As a normal person involved something abnormal, Ageha is often uncertain of her chances and her decisions but grows into someone capable of detaching her from the situation at hand; if she thinks of it like one of her games, it becomes easier to make decisions unhindered by her worries. As the War goes on, Ageha's confidence becomes more prominent and her former 'self' seems to almost be replaced. It takes a while to get there, though.

Talents: Ageha's best subjects in school are World History, English, and Classical Literature and her worst subject is Gym, mostly because she's self-conscious in the uniforms they have to wear. However, she's actually really good at track and holds one of the fastest times in school... when not being self-conscious, of course. Her parents, traditional as they are, enrolled her in various classes as she grew in which Ageha is studiously adept, but she's fairly sure that things like chanoyu (tea ceremony) and ikebana (flower-arranging) aren't going to come in handy during the tournament. Despite appearances and personality, Ageha's actually quite the effective liar; it seems as if people just don't think she could do anything but tell the truth, probably due to her harmless appearance and demeanor.
Magic/Weapons: Ageha's ancestor, a man called Kuroha, was a powerful Magus generations ago; while Ageha has managed to inherit his Magic Circuits, they've been shut for her entire life since the Saitou bloodline's mystic branch was forgotten. Once opened by the residual power of the Summoning Ritual, Ageha's circuits produce large amounts of prana... though Ageha has no idea how to use it and no magical training. As your run-of-the-mill teenager Ageha has no combat capabilities and her physical strength is only average for someone of her height and weight; however, since her prana builds up within her due to disuse, it's possible for her to release prana instinctively as defensive bursts in stressful situations. Once Ageha has a Servant, the mana flow between them is strong and constant, with the 'flavor' of a cold mountain river and all the more plentiful because Ageha can't use it herself; unfortunately, due to her utter lack of training, Ageha's control over her prana is tenuous and she's prone to 'leaking' energy when under stress, making it possible for adept Magi and Spirits to locate her.
Notes: Her name means 'swallowtail butterfly,' but Ageha's never liked it much because she thinks it doesn't describe her very well-- It's meant for someone prettier, or at least more showy, right? Because her parents are older than most, Ageha has a tendency to eat (and actually like) 'old-timer food' like tofu and natto. Her friends – Reimi, Hanabi, and Aiko – are usually the ones who come up with ideas for them to do and insist on hanging out; Hanabi is the most outgoing and popular, the kind of girl Ageha would have liked to be. For Ageha's part, she's something of an otaku and can often be found in Akiba, dressed like a mousy boy as she purchases the latest games or drama CDs. Ageha is the last Master chosen by the Holy Grail, and therefore the last to call her Servant.

Signature Song: Invitation, VYI & MZKI
