Thing's on my Mind
Azure's Last Wish
Opening his eyes to see a blank sky, Azure let out a small gasp when he felt the pain rush through his body when he tried to move. The pain, oh God, it felt horrible. It wasn't the kind of pain someone would encounter through out there life. This pain was too much for any human or creature to handle. Someone could die if they felt what Azure felt at the moment. But.. why wasn't he dead?

Azure laid completely still, trying his best not to move a single muscle for it might cause the pain to erupt again. Blinking slowly when his eyes began to birth tears, he smiled when he heard a familiar buzzing noise nearby. "Noah..." a dry, quiet rasp escaped his cracked lips, the buzzing stopping right after, silence filling his ears but for his whistling nose.

"Azure..." a soft but yet determined voice spoke out, the patter of feet now coming towards Azure instead of the buzzing. "Noah... d-" Azure didn't have the strength to speak. His throat was so dry it hurt to even take gulps of air. The metal taste of blood wasn't helping his thirst for fresh spring water either. Closing his eyes when he heard a small gasp, he felt someone's presence beside him and small arms cradle his head. "N-"

"Shh... don't speak my baby" Noah whispered, her soft blond locks framing her beautiful face that glowed with pride, feeling tips of her locks tickling his cheek when she gently placed his head onto her lap as if it was a pillow. "Oh my God, Azure..." her voice sang like an angel, making Azure open his deep crimson eyes to stare into her baby blues. "Noah..." he rasped while to trying to left his hand to stroke her smooth, soft cheek, grunting when he felt the pain over take him. "N-Noah I-" Azure coughed, speckles of blood landing onto Noah's white tunic. "Azure please, don't speak..." Noah whispered, watching a line of blood slide down at the corner of Azure's mouth.

Noah started to hiccup. Her love, her baby, her world, her sweet flower was slowly dying in her hands. Azure, a once righteous and brave man that was feared by everybody but for Noah. For Noah, Azure was nothing more than a beautiful flower that grew from the unhealthiest soil and tried to bloom it's best for everyone. Azure was a beautiful flower that stood up with strength and pride that no one was able to comprehend. But now... that beautiful flower was slowly wilting, a few of it's lovely petals still holding on for dear life.

A sob broke out when Noah felt Azure's hand touch her cheek, feeling the roughness and warmth stroke her cheek, tears spilling out. Soon enough, both her eyes became never ending waterfalls of salty water that cleansed the earth of Azure's face. "Oh my God Azure..." was what Noah was only able to say. "Noah... Listen..." Azure again rasped, licking his lips greedily when he felt Noah's tears slide from her eyes to her cheek then onto his cracked lips, helping his dry throat a bit. "Don't cry.... my sweet angel" he whispered calmly, Noah's sobs becoming into small hiccups, trying her best to hold in her sobs. Azure smiled, his eyes twinkling from holding in his tears for too long. "Noah... can you tell... me... the story of the..." a dry cough pushed its way out of Azure's throat making Noah jump a bit, Azure gulping in as much air as he could. His heart was beating slower and slower every second. Soon enough it'll stop completely but for he was putting up a God damn fight.

".... story of the Azure Flower...." Azure said, finishing his sentence from before, a small smile tugging at the corner of his lips. Noah bit her lip and nodded her head quickly. "Of course." Noah knew he was dying but she didn't believe it. No, he was fine, just hurt was all. She must of told Azure the story 40 times already when both started travelling. Even though he never paid much attention when she told him, she knew he listened to every word that was said. Smiling weakly at him, Noah coughed to clear her throat before she started...

There once was a mother bird who couldn't lay any eggs of her own. Seeing other mother birds with eggs of their own made the mother bird weep everyday and every night. She would pray and pray and pray to God, begging for eggs of her own. One night, when the mother bird was weeping in her nest, a loud but calm voice spoke
out to her from the heavens.

'Oh little bird, do not be afraid for I have heard your prays. I have decided to give you a child of your own. When you wake up the next day, a gift of life will be waiting beside you' the voice said. The mother bird was so happy that night that she had to force herself to sleep. When the sun rose from its bed, the mother bird woke up to see not an egg, but a green seed.

Disappointed, the mother bird flew to the ground where the soil was unhealthy and planted the seed there. Mother bird knew that God wouldn't betray her so every day mother bird would go down to where she planted the seed and water it everyday. She told stories and even laid on it to keep it warm from chilly winds. Finally the day came when a single blue leaf popped up from the unhealthy soil. Oh mother bird was so happy when her little seedling grew. Praying to God for thanks, God once again spoke to her ' Oh little mother bird you are very welcome. For your good deed, you shall give it a name that I've blessed. Azure will be it's name' God told her.

Azure was the seedlings name. Everyday mother bird took care of it like she always did. One point, Azure learned to talk when it grew another blue leaf. Sadly, the mother bird had passed away from old age, leaving Azure all alone to take care of himself. Every night, Azure would weep for someone to be it's friend and for his mother's care. When Azure finally realized why no one helped him, it sadden him. Everyone was a bird and Azure was just a plant. After realizing it Azure became a bitter, mean, and cold-hearted plant that always shunned everyone. He learned to take care of himself and to defend himself from enemies.

At last, Azure fully bloomed and everyone was in awe. Azure had the most beautiful petals of a nice Azure colour that glowed in the morning. The steam had thorns that looked as sharp as a knife, whips of vines surrounding the beauty. Everyone started talking to Azure but were frightened when Azure growled at them. Everyone gave up and soon became afraid of Azure, once again shunning him.

But, a young bird flew up to Azure and told him many stories. It didn't matter how many times Azure growled, cursed, and even hit the small bird, the bird would always stick by Azure's side. One day, the bird told Azure of a story about a small egg that was taken care by plants. Azure, sadden by the tale and how the small egg was like him, asked the small bird why she would not leave Azure's side.

The small bird smiled and said 'because I was that egg. I know how you feel and everyone needs a friend.' From that day on, Azure and the small bird became close friends...

Tears stopped running in Noah's eyes when she finished the story but instead tears spilled out of Azure, smiling one last time before drawing his last breath, mouthing something along the lines of 'I love you', closing his eyes slowly. "Good... bye... Azure..." Noah whispered when she felt Azure go limp and stiff in her arms, taking a moment to herself before deciding what to do. "Good bye" she rasped before grabbing a small dagger that hang from her belt. "Wait for me Azure..." she spoke while holding the dull dagger up, aimed to her heart. "Good bye cruel world..." her she whispered again, her hands trembling. "I love you, Azure" she said before pushing the dagger right into her chest where her heart laid, gasping silently while her eyes bulged. It hurt, it hurt so much but for him it was worth it. Hunching till her forehead touched Azure's, she truly smiled for the first time in years.
