It is the little things in life that keep us going and raise our spirits, but sometimes when those little things go wrong, it can hurt us 10 fold. I hate being the type of person who can't forget easily. Bad things happen and it is no ones fault. Despite this, somehow I still feel angry at how things find a way of turning out for the worst.
I had readied some food that I was looking forward to enjoying at work, but plans changed after someone had accidentally broken the container making its contents irrecoverable. The food inside wasn't really special, wasn't expensive, and can be easily replaced at any local grocery store. So why does it bugs me so much?
On a journey as the ingredients were delivered from the farm, to a factory, to a wholesaler, to the grocer, to my home. Who knows how much time and effort (and love, I'd hope) was put into its creation.
A single mishap. The jar making its way to the floor, in that instant, all that was invested disappeared as the jar shattered into countless pieces. It was both beautiful and somewhat poetic watching this happen. This item ending its journey on an exclamation point and painfully highlighting all that went into its creation only to never fulfill its destiny.
A dark cloud looms over my head as I write this, filled with directionless rage. Perhaps knowing that this moment has been recorded on my journal, I have a way to forget since the journal will remember for me.
Today's events have been depressing and have caused far greater stress than I thought possible, but in reality, it's like $4.
