In a recent election here in Canada, a neighbor of mine (don't know which one) seemed really patriotic. They encouraged the neighborhood to go out and vote, to be part of the democratic system that helped form our country. They drew directions in chalk on the sidewalks, directing people to the voting locations and reminders that voting day was coming. A person with pride in the country and our election systems, or so i thought. In a stunning upset, the party favored to win by a landslide (about 70% in the popularity vote) ended up losing to the underdog and this is when my seemingly good neighbor showed their true colours. The day after the election results were announced, I find a new chalk message on the street corner reading "You voters should be ashamed of yourselves!". What the ******? Morally, this disturbed me a lot. It seems my neighbor was only acting the way they were because they felt like they had no chance of losing. Where do they get the nerve to tell us, "you voted incorrectly"? In Canada, we are free, and we are free to vote for whomever we want. It is this freedom that allows this a*e to even have the option to lose in an election. Having no idea who wrote it, I left a note pretty much summing this up next to the chalk message they had left.
