Stepping out onto the balcony, she peered up up at the clear night sky. Hundreds of stars hung in the gleamed at varying intensities. This routine happened nightly, shedding her last vestments of superstition. She was looking for Venus, and when she had finally found it, she knew she was ready.
Throwing a cover fashioned from silk over her shoulders, and a hood over her head, she left her home for the rest of her life. Letting the chill fill her lungs, nipping her cheeks; she puffed out her chest and let out a small breath. The stillness of the air let her breath hang in the air for a while before dissipating.
"Alright." she said aloud, "Let's see what we're dealing with."
