Katiina was skipping down the path happily. The forest made her feel. Feel so alive! Probably because she was an elf. But maybe because she was even closer the the forest now that she was half fox. It happened just a couple months ago. Kurodi, the priestess in her village, had taught Katiina everything she knew. Which wasn't much. So she told Katiina to go out into the world in search of someone powerful to teach her. Katiina didn't want to travel alone. So she decided to create a spell that would make her a fox companion. Unfortunately the spell didn't exactly work to well. Instead it created fox ears and tail for Katiina! When she tweaked the spell it did make a fox though. Kyuukoudia then became Katiina's best friend! Only problem was that Kyu enjoyed making Katiina look crazy. They had a telepathic connection. Katiina didn't know how to talk telepathically, and still doesn't, so she had to speak aloud. A bird chirped in a tree up above. The sun would be setting soon. Katiina scampered up a tree in search for someplace to stay for the night. A few yards away was a creek. Jumping back to the ground she sensed another magic user. Picking Kyu up and holding her in her hands she started shaking the fox awake. "KYUUUUU! WAAAAAAKE UUUUUUUP!" She yelled stretching out the vowels. What the hell do you want? Kyu asking waking up annoyed. "I sense a magic user! Can you? Can you?" Katiina asked setting Kyu on her shoulder and climbing up another tree. No I can't you know- Hey! What are you doing? Kyu yelled trying to hang on Katiina so she didn't fall of. "I want to see if the person is heading this way!" Katiina said as she pulled her hood up. She wanted to make a good first impression and fox ears cause a bit of trouble for some people. Why should it matter? Why can't you be a normal person and just walk by? Kyu said hopping off Katiina's shoulder onto the branch they were sitting on. "Because if this person seems nice they might teach meh!" Katiina said happily sitting in a froggie position. She pulled her tail up next to her so it wasn't hanging down in plain view. "Now shh! They're coming." A boy walked under her tree. His hair was a red-brown color. By his side a long sword. He looked a couple years older then Katiina. Now that he was closer Katiina could feel how powerful he really was. He stopped under the tree. Katiina picked up a few mumbled words but didn't make any sense out of them. Then suddenly before Katiina could realize what was happening she was on the ground with a pointed tip of a sword at her neck. Up above, still in the tree, Kyu said, Sure he seems real nice. "Are you gonna keep-" He started to say when he got a better look of Katiina he pulled his sword back and sheathed it. "Sorry." He mumbled. "Thought you were someone else." Katiina rubbed her neck. Her normally blue eyes were now a prominent shade of green. The boy stared at her then asked. "Weren't your eyes just blue?" "They change with my mood." Katiina said smiling. "Cool huh?" The boy just rolled his eyes and turned around. He started walking down the forest path again. Kyu jumped down from the tree and laughed at Katiina. Let's go ask him to teach you! She said laughing. "Yeah let's catch up with him!" Katiina said grabbing Kyu up and running after the boy. Wait! I wasn't serious! Kyu cried hanging onto Katiina for dear life. When Katiina had caught up with the boy she said, "Hi! i'm Katiina and this is Kyu!" Katiina nodded her head to the tiny fox on her shoulder. "I don't care." The boy said. "Well you see I'm looking for someone to teach me magic and you are like really powerful so I was wondering if you could teach me!" Katiina said quickly in one breath. "No," the boy said simply. "OH PRETTY PLEASE!" Katiina whined. "You're so powerful!" The boy just ignored her and continued walking. Katiina sighed. What was his problem? Try annoying time into teaching you. Kyu said sarcastically. "OOO! Good idea!" KAtiina said happily as she ran up next to the boy again. "Puuuh-leeease! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Please! Pretty Pretty Please!" Katiin was saying this for 10 minutes non stop before the boy finally cracked. He swung his sword "Please." The boy groaned and pulled his sword back the sheathed it. "Give me one good reason I should let you travel with me. So far all I know is that your a pain." Katiina crossed her arms and stuck out her bottom lip. "Weeell that's because I want to learn more magic! I NEED TO!" "What makes you so sure I even know magic.?" The boy said sighing. He probably would get stuck with her anyways. She can sense any type of magic a mile away. Kyu said, forgetting that only Katiina could hear her. "Yah! What Kyu said!" Katiina exclaimed. "You know it's rude to not translate for your fox." The boy said rolling his eyes. Katiina giggled. "Tee hee silly me! I forgot! Well Kyu said I can sense magic! And your magic is really powerful!" The boy shook his head wishing there was some way to get rid of the annoying girl infront of him. But unfortunately there probably wasn't. "I'm Taka." He said simply. "Nice to meet you Taka-san!" Katiina said her eyes turning hazel. Despite how annoying she was Taka had to admit she was polite. Still it was going to be a long night. "So what was earlier about?" Katiina asked skipping. "None of your business. " Taka said gruffly. "Ok!" Katiina said still smiling. Tell him you demand an explanation! Kyu said aggravated at how Katiina didn't care. Putting on a 'serious' face Katiina said to Taka, "Kyu sats I must demand and explanation from you, Taka-san!" Taka stared at her and asked, "Why do you take commands from that little runt?" Katiina smiled. "You know since we are going to be traveling together you could at least try to be a bit nicer!" Taka just rolled his eyes and kept walking. the next few yards they walked in silence. When they reached the creek Katiina had spotted earlier Taka dropped his pack on the ground and started to build a fire. Katiina plopped down next to a tree and pulled her hood down. Her eyes were once again their normal color, blue. Taka looked over to her after he got the fire started and asked, "What exactly are you?" Katiina smlied, thinking to herself what an odd question that was. "I'm an elven sorceress. Don't the ears answer that?" Taka sighed and tapped the top of his head, "Which ones." "Oh," Katiina exclaimed laughing. "I keep forgetting about these!" Taka gave her a quizzical look so she told him the story about her fox ears and tail. When she finished he burst out laughing. Katiina frowned her eyes turning amber. "So what was the mess up that made your hair partly silver?" Taka asked noticing the silver streaks running through Katiina's long red hair. A wave of brown took over the amber in her eyes. Kyu looked up at her sympathetically sand said, You know you don't have to talk about it. "I told you before I don't mind talking about it!" So your eyes must lie. "They do not so shut up!" Katiina yelled as she pulled Kyu's tail. "You know you don't have to-" Taka started to say when Katiina interrupted him. "The fire caused it." She said simply. "How the hell does a fire cause silver streaks? No lessany streaks?' Taka asked. Katiina didn't reply. Instead she curled up in a ball and closed her eyes. Taka shrugged and followed her lead. He was quite tired too. He fell asleep up against a tree. For the weeks to follow Taka, Katiina, and Kyu traveled through the forest. Every night Taka taught Katiina something new. While wallking during the day Katiina practiced. Soon Taka found himself enjoying the company of Katiina. Every morning he woke up to the sound of her laughing and talking with Kyu. Taka started to expect a happy day every day. He never brought the subject about Katiina's hair and the fire again. Katiina and Taka were practically brother and sister to each other. Unfortunately their fun wouldn't last much longer.................
