Broken and Betrayed
Broken and betrayed,
I lay here shattered on the floor.
Don't try to fix me,
You'll on ly break me even more.
I am battered and bruised
Beyond your repair.
Broken and betrayed
I want to be alone.
Shattered and alone,
I think of you here beside me.
Laying in a million peices,
I think I hear your voice.
It's calmly telling me not to cry
Although I already feel your tears.
Shattered and alone,
I can't believe this is real.
Unbeleiving and in peices,
My eyes well up with tears.
My heart is shattered into a million peices
And lost to you like confetti in the wind.
I don't want to be here
But over the years,
I find myself here more and more.
Unbelieving and in pieces,
I don't want to know the truth.
I am broken and betrayed,
Unbelieving and in pieces.
I am shattered and alone.
You're trying to pick up my pieces,
Trying to glue me back together
But it's like you're using flour and water.
To make me stick together.
A little dab of water
And then a sprinkling of flour
Just won't do.
What makes it even worse is
I have a bottle of super glue
In the palm of one shattered hand.
Broken and betrayed,
I lay here shattered on the floor.
Through your tears you try to comfort me,
Try to tell me I'm not alone.
Even through my own tears, I can see your guilt
And my heart breaks for you even more.
Because I've been broken and betrayed,
I'm shattered on the floor.
I'm bruised beyond repair,
And I can't stand it anymore.
I'm not your rug
I'm not your mat
And I refuse to be broken and betrayed anymore.
So now I quote Poe's quaint poem
"The raven quoth,'Nevermore.' "
Nevermore.
