The best threads in the Q&A always get locked.

I just wanted to point out the obvious for a minute there.

Now on to reviews.

Be Cool:
Never before have I ever seen so much product placement in any sort of screened entertainment. Product placement doesn't just mean object adverts, either. Musicians are placed for advert too. It's ridiculious.
This film also has a very lacking plot, some terrible acting, some great acting, and s**t thrown in as a space filler.
If there is anything redeming about this product-placement trashfest, it's The Rock and Cedric the Entertainer. That's it.
I like Cedric, I like his character. He's good.
I like The Rock, I find his character absolutely adorable. He's good too.
The Rock is playing a semi-flamboyant homosexual bodyguard of an excruciatingly annyoing Pimp-wannabe whom I'd like to kill on principle or at least smack around for a while... (character or actor, either one) He is surprisingly cute. In a puppy-dog kind of way. It's nice whee
Cedric plays an upperclass, well educated, sharp record producer whose main group is also his hit-gang. Woot.

Unless you like having your brain waxed over by MTV, I doubt you would like this film.
It has no replay value save for a few scenes, but they aren't even hardly enough.

Next.

Sky High:
Sky High is about Superhero High School. Yes, it is that weird.
What this movie really had going for it in actors and smaller plot lines, it nearly destroyed with its terribly underwritten plot. I feel that if they had just spent some more time on it, I could proudly say that I liked Sky High and not only because Dave Foley is in and he is great!
It's a cute concept but it failed to deliver anything other that remarks from WonderWoman and a actually funny joke here or there.
This movie however, has more replay value than Be Cool does. And that's a shame, because Cedric and The Rock were great.
"You buy the premise, you buy the plot". ******** that. This could've been so much better.

Next...

The War of the Worlds:

THIS IS THE HAPPIEST MOVIE EVAR!!! surprised

My dislike for Tom Cruise aside, this wasn't as terrible as I thought it would be. It was actually quite tollerable. It of course has it's problems (Why the ******** would an alien race that wants the planet that is inhabited by humans bury hundreds/thousands Tri-Squid Robots to be piloted a million years later to destroy the planet? Why not just take it when they found it? What the ********? What, not enough people to eat? Not enough stuff to destroy? The film doesn't touch on that at all xp ), but it's great to watch nonetheless and it's nice to see Tom Cruise's character change from some stupid, selfish ******** ******** to a caring and decent father and all around human being.
Want some eyecandy? Then this is fantastic for you.
Want a plot that makes a s**t load of sense? Stay away.
I would also like to mention that not only is Miranda Otto in it with a small role doing the most fabulous American accent, but Morgan Freeman is doing the opening and ending naration, and as far as I'm concerned, sitting through Tom Cruise and that creepy little girl's acting is well worth it.
She really does creep me out. But that may just be her character. Slow to react and all.
I wouls also, also, like to mention that the scene in which the Tri-Squids start attacking reminds me so damn much of the opening title for Earth Bound that I squealed. xd
Great popcorn movie, but other than that, it can be skipped.

End of reviewing transmission. domokun
