OffTalk
My Blog. I talk about stuff that is happening to me right now.
Hey. This is my first journal entry, so hi, everyone. I'm Offlink. I'm into sports, video games, and making movies. Which reminds me. I need to work on the script to my new short film right now. I'm really excited about it, because I'm doing it with a guy that I work really well with creatively, and really understands me. I'm really late on it, though it should be on youtube in the coming months/year. Or Years. Although, for it to actually be finished I need to work on it. NOW. No distractions.

...

I got the New Super Mario Bros. and Brain Age: Train Your Brain in Minutes a Day! for my trip to Montreal last week, and I'm thuroughly impressed with both.

The New Super Mario Bros. is a pretty solid platformer. The levels are somewhat like all four pre-N64 Mario platformers in one. The game itself is large. It will take you some time to beat it, but don't expect hours on your first run-through. Where the longevity comes is in the side-stages and star coins. In total, there are 80 stages, each with 3 star coins, collectable coins not unlike those in Super Mario World. You only need to beat about 45 stages to finish the game, though, so there is a whole lot of replay value in just completing all the stages, not to mention collecting all of the often well-hidden star coins in each level. The main game is, at it's core, a solid, fun, nicely finished package. The extras are worth mentoning as well. The two-player Maro vs. Luigi stages are a nice diversion, but not much to really get excited about. Two players jump around a stage, fighting to get stars that bounce around, not unlike the multi-player in Super Mario 64 DS. The minigames are almost all recycled from SM64DS, although not all are present. The good thing is there is no unlocking needed, and multiplayer has been added for many, not present in SM64DS. All in all, the whole feel of the game is pretty good. That's why I give it a 9.5/10

I'm going on 4 hours of sleep right now. Good night.
