I've been looking through my rates in the Avatar Arena (which I am addicted to) and I'm a lot like Simon Cowell. I critisize, fuss, and tend to rate low. But I've also discovered some things about my preference in awatars while doing this.
Items that I dislike/will mark you down for: Fairy Wings, Chyaku Norisu, Hell's v****a (you should know on this one), the 'donation items attacking my face' look, lots of commons/sets.
So you future Arena entrees reading this...BE PREPARED! twisted
