They Call me Papa
Early one mornin' I was woken up before it was time to be woken up, by my daughter Patsy. With her big eyes lit up in a hurry she said "Papa, Papa...Papa; Beesha left with some boy! Left right afta you'd un put us to bed!" I had cauht myself before Id've fell asleep again."Where'd she go off to?" Rubbing the sleep from my eyes. "She'd said that she was goin to the tank and and she'll be back before you knew it, an she said if I taddle I'd get my dupah whooped by her!".
"Did she now? Well I guess I should get up now huh?" I got out of be being careful as to not wake up mamma, put on my overalls , an my straw hat, an before i left i asked patsy "any of the other kids woke up?" she said "no" in her sweet little voice"and im surprised they're not because of all the racket she'd dun made tryin' to get through the window!" "then go take my place next to mamma in my bed and try not to wake up mamma ok." "OK!" she said and hopped in my bed pulled up the covers to her nose and started making snoring noises. As I's walkin out I nearly tripped over the dog, it squeeled "hush up jake!" I said and we walded to the screen door (Because it was a hot summer night with a little bit of a cool breeze blowin' in from the east) and i tried to gently shut the door and let it fall; but it still made a loud "smack as it hit the edge of the door frame. i stood still for a moment listening to see if anyone woke up. then me and Jake went on our way.
