Chapter 2: the four rules
A small village 100 years later

"Onaku! Hurry up or we are going to be late for the cremony!",Kiruka yelled. sometime I wish she had a little more patience when it came to stuff like this. still I wouldn't blame her I was pretty excited too, today was the day when selected kids from the ages of 15-17, it depends when the show promise, The Counsel would figure out if they stay in this village or go off to another one were there skills and talents would be most needed, this is always held at the Temple of Truth. I was so happy when me and Kiruka got to be chosen as particepants. Of course this means we leave our families behind,....... that part still hurts a lot when I think about it. However, I know that I can communicate with them through ancient ways, but that still means I am somewhat alone.I am 15, but beside Kiruka I dont really have any good friends, yea there are a few friends I hang out with but we just hang out for the heck of it. I finish getting ready putting on my shoes. I pack a few coins in my pocket and I run down the stairs. "By mom I will see at the ceremony!"
“Ok! Your father should be there already and I will be there in about a half-hour. Bye you two!” my mother waves goodbye as we say our goodbyes in a strange but still cool unison. As we run, I give kiruka a look of relief. She returns it with a, your crazy look, a look which I get quite often.
“I just don’t understand Onaku why in the world would you want to leave such a great family?”
I sigh,” I already told you I do not want to leave them I just want to have more independence, especially from the four rules”
“Oh yea you told me about those, what were they again?” After we slowed to a walk, I looked at her, it never stopped to amaze me how much that girl could forget important things and remember the most strange.
“Come on sometimes you scare me with how much you forget sometimes, we have lived here all our lives and you can't remember the rules. Those sensless rules that make no sense and give no further explanation" I think think to myslef the Four Rules that were proactically drilled into our heads since birth, it was even recited every day before school starts. Thinking of it in my head, almost unconsciously

Rule number one: no swimming or going near pools or lakes unless in the designated pools.
Rule number two: never go near huge fires, fireplaces, or campfires.
Rule number three stay away from the mountains.
Last but not least if a storm or even strong winds come you must go inside and keep all doors and windows closed untill time is past.

I looked distroaught and almost angry just by thinking of the stupid rules. The sad part is Kiruka noticed and this made her depressed somewhat more than me. I look at her and give her one of my warming smiles, the kind that always made her happy.
”it will be ok Kiruka after today everything will be different”
She looked at me with those big auburn eyes normally so full of life and free if worry, was no almost sadding ” yeah b...but will it be for the good?” after that we walked in silence to the place that would change us forever.
