Yeah, it's been a while since I last wrote in here. All I seemed to use it for recently was for quests and s**t. But now, I have some free time, and I want to write about the end of my pregnancy, and the beginning of my motherhood. =O So sit back, kiddies. You might not fall asleep during this one.
So, when did I officially go into labor? Hell, I'm not completely sure. It may have been false labor that lead into true labor, or it may have been early labor that lasted forever. All I know for sure is that I started timing my contractions at 7AM one week from yesterday (That would make it Saturday). They stayed relatively consistant, but they were perfect, so it took me a while to finally call a doctor (I called my mom first to ask for her opinion). By the time I called, it had been three hours, and no matter what I did (sit, stand, walk, etc.), the contractions wouldn't go away. So, the doctor said I could come in, but that I didn't have to hurry. So, about an hour and a half to two hours later, we left for the hour long drive to the hospital.
We spent most of the afternoon there. After a few exams, and two+ hours of walking around the Maternity Ward in a hospital gown, they sent me home with Advair because the contractions were making me cry. I was still only dialated 1 cm (you have to be at least three for the hospital to keep you).
My mom came over after that. She offered to stay the night and everything, seeing as my discharge wasn't considered to last too long (the nurses guessed that I'd be back that night). Sure enough, I took the Ambien, and it didn't do a thing. The contractions were bad enough to throw off a prescribed sleep aid. Ebil. So, we went back to the hospital, and I was admitted at 11PM. By Midnight, they hooked me up to an IV that sent fluids as well as pain medication and sleep medication straight to my bloodstream. I feel asleep for a few hours. Thank God; I needed it.
The next day happened pretty fast. I can't believe I was so patient through that day! By the time my doctor came in at 7, she was giving me a choice: She could discharge me and let me dialate more at home, or she could induce me. I took the induction; no way was I going to wait any longer for things to progress. If it hadn't been for the intraveinous meds coming in through my IV, I would have been sleep deprived for over 24 hours. So, they put me on Pitocin, and we waited. By noon, the pain from the contractions was too much for me, and they had set me up with the epidural I'd wanted so badly. I wasn't the 5 cm they required for epidurals, but after having to hear me moan and groan, they decided that it was best not to wait.
Well, by 2PM, they examined me, and shock! I was almost 9 cm! Just like that! They said that I would probably be pushing in about an hour. By 3.30, they were just letting me push, and by 3.57 PM, I had a little baby laying on my stomach; feeling fantastic.
I love epidurals. <3 LoL
One week later, I've been a bit sleep deprived, but after a few changes in my routine, I'm starting to get the hang of my new sleep cycle. I've learned that you should accept all the help I can possibly get, and that it would be a lot harder if I didn't have such a wonderful, loving husband to help me go through all of this, things would be a hell of a lot harder. All the hugs, kisses, and support he's given me are the things that have helped with my sanity the most. Well, that and the sleep I can get. xD
