"Gay is an adjective meaning 'carefree', 'happy', or 'bright and showy'; however in modern usage, gay is a word usually used, as either a noun or adjective, to refer to same-sex sexual orientation; homosexuality....When used with a derisive attitude (e.g. "that was so gay" wink , the term gay is [insulting]. It has also acquired 'a widespread current usage' amongst young people, to mean 'lame' or 'rubbish'. Recently, young bloggers have used 'gay' to mean 'uninteresting' or 'dull' -- just the opposite of the original meaning (e.g.: 'That party was so gay.')"

people always seem to be using the word "gay" as common bad language. A kid does something weird and another kid might say "dude that's gay" A kid might be wearing old-fashioned clothes, and another kid would say "those shoes are gay" Kids go arouond asking each other, " are you gay?" as an insult. what do these kids know? do they understand why they are using this word? in movies, songs, the general media, the word "gay" also come up quite often.

using "gay" as an insult just adds to the overall feeling that being homosexual is wrong. By using the word "gay" people attempt to degrade each other. what does that say? that says that if someone is "gay" they are lower than the people who are attracted to the opposite gender. it says that homosexuals are inferior, that homosexuals are alien, tainted and corrupt people.

from using the word gay as an insult, that's what kids will come believe. But that is completely untrue. Homosexuals are people. They like to hang with friends, go to the movies, and eat popcorn. Sometimes, the people with the best ideas are homosexuals. Like everyone else, they smile, laugh, and do headstands. these people should be accepted and respected. the word "gay" should not be used as an insult.
